  1. Hi & welcome to T|I! Where to buy this card? Good question, I currently got a Dell card running in my system, but sometimes it can be hard to get a card from Dell... I'm actually waiting for a card from mxm-upgrade to test it, so in case it works, that would be a possible place to get the card. The upgrading procedure is described in the first post. Once you got the card in your system apply the thermal paste, mount the heatsink, reassemble your system and boot. Then install the drivers and your ready to go. Edit: I just received my card from mxm-upgrade, will test it as soon as possible.

  2. It's most likely the graphics card, your bios beep code underlines this assumption. Windows error code 43 does not automatically mean that the card is dead or damaged. I had this problem twice, the first time with one of my Asus MarsII cards, it was not properly connected to the PCIe, reseating the card solved the problem. The second time it was a defective vram module, accordingly the card was no longer usable. I can only give the advice to check, if the card is correctly connected to your MXM port...otherwise a replacement seems to be the only solution.

  5. The fan could be worn perhaps call and get it replaced especially if your used to full fan speed and even forcing full fans with HWiNFO doesnt spin to max. It should be a free repair...

  6. Here are the steps for recovering the current M14x BIOS: Did you follow these steps? If not, try again. If it still doesn't work and you're out of warranty I still might be able to help you, but it'd require a hard flash or replacing the BIOS chip. Edit: I attached the recovery file for flashing the unlocked A08 BIOS, just unpack it and copy it to the root of your USB drive. M14x [unlocked] A08 recovery.zip

  7. Oh, by the way... I can confirm that the 7970m from mxm-upgrade works fine, I'll update the first post in the near future. An issue is the fan control... fans are always at a high speed, you need HWiNFO to automatically control them, but once you set it up (including autostart and custom fan profile) you don't notice a difference, works like a charm. Idling is very cool and performance is excellent. Here's a 3dMark11 bench of the card in my M15x, everything at stock - Catalyst settings, CPU, GPU:
