  1. There's now a Tech|Inferno Team at HWbot.org, so this is a call to every causual, and also more serious bencher here, to join this team and let the world know about the capabilities of your hardware! For everyone who hasn't heard of HWbot so far: HWbot is a worldwide benchmark ranking site which has several categories and rules for each benchmark. You can submit your benchmark scores and depending how popular the benchmark and used hardware is, and of course depending on your score, you'll earn points. The more points the better. Most users are (naturally) submitting scores for desktop hardware, but it doesn't matter, in fact this makes it pretty easy to get some cheap points with mobile hardware And what's the purpose of this? Getting points I mainly see this as motivation to push my system even further, sometimes it's hard to find extreme benchmarks of mobile hardware, and I always like it when there's some competition or when I see a score which I think I can beat. Mainly it's about fun and to push each other. Also it will hopefully help a bit to make Tech|Inferno a bit more known. What if my hardware (CPU or GPU) isn't listed there? Let me know and attach a GPU-Z (respective CPU-Z) screenshot to your post. I'll request that it gets added to the database. Or you can request it yourself. I don't submit all my benchmarks there, but I definitely submit those which are hard to crack and which are more likely to be seen. There are rules for submitting benchmarks which must be obliged to get points, the rules are simple and can easily be checked here (scroll down a bit). If you have any questions about submitting benchmarks or something else, let me know, I'll try to help. Though I'm still pretty new to this. I hope some of you will join and score some points!! Ah, and we're already #640 of 1682 worldwide in our category... and that's only with my handful of points, lol. Let's move up!

  4. You need a bit more than a 100MHz overclock on the core if I remember it correctly, might have changed a bit with the newer drivers. And yes, I flashed my 6970m with a 6990m VBIOS, just to see what happens... system booted but the screen stayed black. I also tested a very early modified beta VBIOS, which bricked my card, lol. The shaders are apparently cut off physically from the rest of the die, that's what hardware manufacturers usually do (naturally, since it can't be undone) and (apart from the 6970m ES chips) no one managed to get magically more shaders on a 6970m...

  5. Once you RGB LED, you don't look back. You basically have to go with IPS like StamatisX suggested.

  8. Did some more quick tests, this time with vantage. I don't have any auxiliary cooling methods here at the moment, and my room temps is at 28°C + ... the system heats up pretty quickly. It seems that furmark also has some dips to 400/900 on standard clocks/voltage... though it happens more often with increased voltage. Could be caused by the temp. I did some quick vantage testing, not the whole test, only about the first 30 seconds of the first GPU test, it did run well at 1.2V, 855/1100, but suddenly the clocks and voltage dropped, then it came back for a couple of seconds and then the system shutdown. Since it did run for the first 30 seconds I dare to hope that the issues are caused by heat. The overvolt/current protection would kick in within milliseconds, and it doesn't make sense, that there's no overcurrent/voltage during the first 30 seconds. So I'll see that I can get some auxiliary cooling and do some more testing. It probably won't happen before the next weekend, but I'll see what I can do and I keep you posted. Also there's some interesting stuff in the VR datasheet about the protective functions... I'll take a look at it, just in case. I so want this to work
