Hi

I got few problems with mine y510p.

spec:

i7-4700MQ

NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M

lcd is 1366x768

hdd stock 1tb

4gb ram

mouse logitech g700

student win8 sp1

When i turn on laptop :

(white power led on, keyboard red backlight is on too - nothing special here because it was like that from start)

It takes long time like 3 minutes (sometimes even dont boot at all and only way is to remove battery , disconect it from power source and hold power button to relase stored energy) to show white Lenovo logo (before it took max 5 sec to show logo).

i often conect y510p via hdmi cable to tv and play some movies but i am not sure if its related to that black screen on post

I want :

-upgrade laptop bios , and i want to get that moded one ( need 5 posts)

-reinstal system

Please post here if you experienced similar problem or fixed that problem.

Changing laptop user or buying new laptop not count .

This happened to me a while ago where my computer would boot very slowly and sometimes not at all. I believe it was my hardrive which gave me the troubles because after installing an m.2 ssd I stopped having that problem

I used to have the exact same problems, but changing the hhd with a ssd (I just cloned it without a clean windows install) and boom! all problems are plus the OS feels faster especially when lauching apps.

Like Egt said I highly recommend getting a ssd. I have a y500 very similar to y510. Boot times were a bit slow, so i installed a ssd into the laptop and now it purrs like a kitten. Keep a eye on newegg and you can find something like the 250gb msata 840 evo on sale for something like 80-100$ if you are willing to wait for a great deal.
