jester_socom
Will doing this have a impact on temperatures? Anyone who feels to try this?I think opting for a SSD may make a difference on my palm rest. But the RAM may have marginal impact.
himen256
Do you know any benchmarks that measure the temperature? I cant find any myself. Like 2.5" SSD vs 2.5" 5400rpm and 7200rpm.
jester_socom
Would I be paranoid thinking this would help in my Y500 reducing temperatures?Technology Primer: Low Voltage RAM - Puget Custom ComputersI currently have 1.5v 1600mhz cl11 modulesIn the link above there is a comparison in a desktop system for 1.25v/1.35v/1.5vI do notice a slight difference. Maybe this will have a better effect in a notebook? I was also thinking of upgrading to a SSD because it consumes 0.05W compared to 5W peak of a HDD. octiceps
Yes you are paranoid. There will be no tangible difference in temperature from those two upgrades. Power consumption will drop slightly. The SSD will decrease system noise and make a huge difference in responsiveness. If you have the money for an SSD there's no reason not to get one. Sodalink
It wouldn't be that bad if you have money and want to squeeze in extra battery power.

I might test myself and remove 1 stick to see if that helps.
BlogDude22
I upgraded to 1.5v DDR3 and an ssd drive. I'm not encountering any heat problems.
