stehart
Hello, when Windows 8 came out I updated my GT680 to Windows 8.Most part works fine, but the USB section made problems.Sometimes the USB port are not working.Disabling and reenabling them in device Manager solved the Problem, but USB 3 ports with USB 3 devices are not usable. The baddest part was boot behaviour.Fast boot works mostly fine, but after a complete reboot system won't start. It took some recovery attempts before it works again.I thought it is a driver problem and lived with it for some time waiting for updates.Last week I saw msi removed Win8 - Drivers from their website.I called msi Support and they told me that Windows 8 will not work on GT680.There is a bios update necessary but msi would not provide one.I saw in this Forum that there a some custom bios versions. Will they help to solve this Problem. My only interest is to run Windows 8, I' m not interessted in overclocking etc.best regardsStephan
dincami
Hi,A quick question please: does Hyper-V works properly on the machine? Thank you
stehart
Yes, Hyper-W worked properly.Windows 8 worked fine, only the internal USB Hubs made great problems
dincami
Hm...And no tweaking in the BIOS?My problem is that I installed windows phone 8 sdk, but the emulator does not start (it complains about the SLAT). Now, I have already checked if the CPU on my GT683R supports SLAT (apparently it does) so my only guess is that it is not enable from BIOS. Tried to check this, but to my surprise, the BIOS provided by MSI only offers very little options. So, do you happen to know if the SLAT was by default enabled? (I would not flash the bios if it is not absolutely necessary).Thx again,Mihai
stehart
As far as I remember I didn't need to change anything in bios.I have not flashed a "special" bios.
dincami
Ok, thank you.As for your problem: I don't seem to have any problems running win8 Pro on a GT683R machine, but I am running it on a virtual machine. Depending on your bios, you may check in it if BIOS USB 3.0 Support is enabled. Hope it helps.
AusMatt
I upgraded to Windows 8 on my GT680 and then later did a full re-install as I had some issues with the upgrade.I've installed the latest drivers from Intel, RealTek, Renesas and NVIDIA (as MSI were way behind) and I've got no problems.USB 3.0 etc all working.
