devilhunter
Hello, I owe a G53JW ( the one that comes with a removable 460m GTX), and I decided to repast the card and OC it, the first thing I noticed is that it shuts down at relatively low temp (85-88), and thus I assumed that Vrams are overheating. Also, I bought 0.5 mm thermal pads for vrams, anyways,I've been looking forward to upgrade it. In addition, many users had successfully upgrade the card; but all of them happened to owe G73xJ series . At last, could you please share your thoughts and suggestions to me? Thanks and sorry for my bad English.
jmhdj
Hello. You cant upgrade to amd as bios support only nvidia cards if at all. But we know that g73jw which is basicaly big brother to g5jw was upgraded successfully to 660m, with moded vbios though.
devilhunter
There are many successful upgrading stories of amd 7970m on G73JW , and good news is both laptops have the same exact heat sink!

Are you sure that it is G73JW and not its predecesor G73JH?

smellons
Only the G73jh is able to upgrade cards as far as I know. It has to do with the actual MXM slots on the laptop.
