Hi!

In Lenovo ThinkPad X240, any modified bios can be flash using hardware SPI programmer only, exactly the same as described in the first post of this thread.

So, to create your bios backup (dump) you must to use hardware SPI programmer only.

Please read the first page of this thread.

Hey, @Klem.

Can you help me?

We tried to reflash bios and it does not work at all.

After that, we tried to fash different bios and it stopped to boot.

We tried to return old bios but it can't boot again. We can see some indication and keyboard light but the display doesn't start and no beep.

Machine type: 20AM006EUS

Unfortunately, we lost bios.

Do you have any ideas?

Yes, I created this dump from my laptop using ch341a and NeoProgrammer.

I’ve corrected permissions for the link.

Hi Klem,

Hopefully you're still doing these and thank you in advance, you have been doing them a long time, very patient!

In this post you noted that the "X240 has only one 16MB chip", a 25Q128FVSSIQ recognised as 25Q128BV or 25Q128FV.

When I started NeoProgrammer 2.2.0.10 it showed a W25Q64FV but I do not think that was correct, probably just some sort of startup default?  It is also 8MB vs the 16MB of each of the other four.

However when I click 'Detect' it shows "4 Chips" namely (WINBOND) W25M121AV, W25Q128BV, W25Q128FV and W25Q128JV. I have dumped all 4 bins but for future reference (and to help others who might come along), which one(s) is(are) actually the correct one(s) here? Comparing the 4# 16MB files in Guiffy shows no differences.

Please can you help to remove the Lenovo X240 bios whitelist and get the advanced menu for my X240.

This is normal because (WINBOND) W25M121AV, W25Q128BV, W25Q128FV and W25Q128JV are almost the same chips. You can choose any one in the software, but I recommend choosing W25Q128BV or W25Q128FV.
