Koxicain
Hi im having some booting problems I have a Clevo P170EM with the bios 1.02.14 and KBC/EC is 1.02.12 i just updated the bios today to see if it would fix my problem. When it boots up with no Graphics card or CD-rom or HDD's its alive for about 1:20 seconds It starts beeping from 22 second mark and beeps every 3rd second. I've had the computer to diffrent repair shops but none who can find the fault. I've tried myself to take all ram graphics card everything the computer doesnt need switching ram's around etc. When i updated my bios to 1.02.14 it suddenly stopped beeping in the middle of it and once it was done it shut down and when i turned it on the beeping was back. And its not a heat problem CPU is 40 degrees celcius and has never been above 75 This video looks exactly like mine when i boot it up i've just figured out if you take out the extra graphics card and the cd-rom drive it can stay alive longer. It really doesnt seems like a hardware failure more of a communications failure. I hope someone can help me with this problem.
Khenglish
Unfortunately this is normal behavior. Clevo EM systems consider detecting no graphics card as an overheating graphics card, and after some time will forcibly shut down. To get around it you need a graphics card that is functional enough to report its temperature. This card needs no other functionality. Koxicain
So if i put back in my hd7970 which is working the pc might work again? Im getting the same beep error code whether the card is in or not the only difference is the pc will not be alive for quite as long. If the problem is heat on the graphics card how do i bypass the error with my hd7970. Temps are less than 50 degree celcius when checked in xtu or openhardware minitor before it dies. Khenglish
Does the 7970m work? Can you get it to play a game before the shutdown? If so then the shutdowns are definitely abnormal? Koxicain
Yeah i just dont have time enough to open a game. And i removed the HDD's. According to the repairshops the graphic card shouldnt be the problem its something on the motherboard but they have no clue what. And when i updated the bios the beeping stopped for untill it was done and restarted. If it is the card what can i do myself to test it ? Khenglish
That's really odd. Can you have someone else try the GPU and see if it works properly? That will let us narrow the issue to either the GPU or the motherboard.
Koxicain
Well i dont really know how to test the gpu. Dont know which models it can fit into.
sirana
Did you try plugging the GPU fan out and back in to make sure it makes proper contact?
Koxicain
The fan works when GPU card is out it starts spinning on 100%
