Opened up the back and cleaned out some of the fans and it worked for a bit. I used the computer for about 6 or 7 hours went to sleep and woke up again to find them stuck on.

Hey hows it going guys. I came home today to hear my alienware just at full blast and screaming. Both 680M's are idling at 30 degrees. I also updated the bios from V9 to V11 and that did not seem to help at all. The laptop starts up fine but after about 2 or 3 minutes the fans just ramp up and stay on full. Thanks for your help!

I've had nothing but good luck with the nvidia 540 and 680 in both of my laptops, the AMD 5700 series in my alienware desktop give me problems unfortunately.
