And what clocks does it throttle to?
-
Thanks for testing @widezu69 . There still might be a chance if the computer can boot though.
Yea possible. Eldaren what system do you have?
-
Interesting innovation cooling immediately disappeared as soon as svl7 posted evidence of scratches...
-
check out the gpu usage on that graph I had linked - it is about sustained 97% on both over 6 minutes. That exact scenario would have pushed our poor gimped 580s to throttletown for about 5.5min straight lol with their OEM throttle vbios.
-
I have tried on dell cards up to 915mhz core and the nice thing is, is that in games there is no throttle on intense usage. But in 3dm11 there is CRAZY fluctuations. It might be and hopefully is some form of artificial 3dmark protection. Here is a graph to illustrate my point.
-
@svl7 might know the answer to that. Anyway that's one of the reasons I didn't move to an R2. The Dell cards seem gimped.
Sent from my GT-N7000
Yea seems they are a bit gimped, but more than enough power.
-
That will open up a lot of possibilities for us widezu.
-
yep it is, but rather not open up a new system. Wondering if blind flashing is possible if card has been bricked via incompatible memory vbios.
-
widezu do you know if flashing a 4gb or another subvendor bios will destroy our 2gb OEM aliewnare 680M's? (ie perma brick)
-
Sweet man, yea that MSI bios is awesome sadly I am too scared to try it on my OEM alienware card hehe...might brick.
-
Sadly I have not opened it and checked.
-
Mine has some fluctuations at high OC about over 850mhz but only in 3dm11 nothing during intensive gaming. This is the OEM alienware 680M vbios though just modded for higher clocks, I have not tried any other subvendors (clevo/msi). Svl7 or anyone else have you tried a 4gb vbios on a 2gb card, does it work or brick?
-
Awesome Brian, which vbios are you using for that run and what clocks.
-
Any chance that one has no fluctuations during high OC, would it brick an OEM 680M with 2gb ram?
-
Hey svl is that bios by any chance this bios - http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/7813/3dmark2011gtx680m854125.jpg

Hi svl7, this is the (I think) Clevo 4GB 680m vBios, that says its vendor is dell (1028) when installed in an Alienware m17xR3
Interesting I wonder how that one would do in a m18x r2 or a m17x r4
-
Nope does not unlock the OC. It came default on all our systems with dual 680Ms

Hey svl7 would the software unlocked edition work on the m18x that has no boost enabled bios yet?
-
Does anyone know what the option for Storage Break Event disable/enable does in the unlocked BIOS?

New card fixed my issue, was hardware problem.

i saw it with the software but this is not a cpu spike, it is constant 100% usage on all cores so that my computer locks up eventually within 15-20 sec. Other users have not had the issue to this extent and I have tried on multiple laptops and networks with the same issue.
-
Yea I ended up RMAing but could someone check to see if they have the same issue that I do. Just wanted to be sure mine was defective even though the killer software sucks.
-
I have a major problem which is when I try to limit the bandwidth in killer network manager of an application under application control, lets say steam while its downloading a game (using full bandwidth) or a torrent client to anywhere below maximum so that it is limiting the bandwidth, my CPU usage spikes to 99%-100% and the system slows to a crawl. Can someone else try limiting bandwidth on an application that is downloading something on their killer 1102, 1103 to see if they have the same issue? That way I will know if I need to RMA my card or if its a widespread issue.

What do you mean you get shocks?

304.79 Highly unstable on 2 same configured m18x r2 systems with 680M sli. Have not done single card testing but the instability may indicate some low level instability there as well.
