You are correct Jimbo, I forgot. It is review with the single 6970M card my bad.

That is the current Issue of laptop Magazine, they have a review of the M17x-R3 with 6970 ATI card and won Editor's Choice as the perfect laptop. Edit Jimbo pointed out that it has a single video card, so I changed that.

Today while I was browsing the web I came across a real interesting program. For the longest time I been looking for a way to have an animated desktop, and I have to say the task seems a little daunting. From shoddy sites to programs that promise and they don't deliver. Enter DeskScapes, a program made by WinCustomize(StarDock). This program allows you to install an animated desktop in your machine, and even if is not free (19.99) I believe is might worth it's price. I started testing it on my M18x and I have to say I am pretty impressed with the program, from fully animated desktops that you can download to static ones this program has a lot of potential because the program to make this animated desktops is free. Once the animated desktop is created the program is save in a .dream file and then you can use DeskScape to install as your desktop. Here is the link, enjoy. That cool Brian, but both of them are R1 which one you referring to, the m17x as been able to handle gamma better? Edit Also I have to say that it seems the m18x-R1 has a better way to control the overall settings more precise, you can even set up the temperature I have to say I am extremely impressed with the Radeon control panel.

OK here is some reference images, I have to say i am surprise about the difference in colors, I know that I haven't calibrate the m18x-R1, but I never calibrated the m17x-R1 to begin with. The m17x-R1 is on the left and the m18x-R1 on the right, I decided to do 4 colors. Blue out Blue in Green in Green Out Red in Red out Yellow out I couldn't do Yellow in because I wouldn't Focus correctly. Enjoy

ok sign me up, how do I make a Debug file for you? Just open hwinfo32 in debug mode and then send you file generated?

Do you need the debug file form my laptop or from AMD? if you need from me let me know and I will be happy to search for it and send it to you. I am using the latest version of HWinfo32 3.80-1260 and the drivers for the video cards are the ones it came out of the box

Ok now it seems that gpu-Z can't see technology , revision, die size and transistors, plus no shaders? Edit, where I can get to m18x-R1 HWinfo32? link?

Hi guys can you confirm if i have a dead videocard? when I use the HWinfo32 and select gpu 1 This is what it shows and it is completely empty in the sensors, please advice.

my beast have landed after waiting close to 12 hours of waiting for the FedEx guy to show up but it was worth it. This machine is massive, even compared to the M17x-R1 I will upload pics later and no I didn't do a unboxing video. To many people did(points at Brian)

Besides this web page nothing else is running on my laptop. Here take a look at clock and temperature.

So is this normal? is one card defective? is something we can do?

1. No I haven't re paste both GPU's I want to see If any normal user would be able to solve that problem without fiddling with re pasting (now if is absolutely necessary i am up to it). 2.both Vents and sinks are clean as a whistle, they get cleaned once a week. 3.tools I am using HWinfo 32 and I will welcome if you can recommend if We need something else. 4.The video cards are the GTX 260M with 1 GB DDR3 of memory 5.Drivers I am using the 270.61 in Sli As you can see the machine has no load(besides the Web browser) and you can see a big gap in the temperature difference.

Well said Brian and I know you are an integral part of TI, I just pointing out that you and littleone have massive experience when it comes to Alienware and I want to make sure we don't loose all that wisdom. Who know maybe we would loose you guys to the HP machines(which would be a crime)

Hi guys is me again, I am making this thread because of Brian and littleone Temperatures Issue with the Second GPU. As you most of you know I have a M17x-R1 and for the longest time I posted here that i believe that my second GPU is displaying the same Issue that made them return your machines, this is leading me to believe that the problem was present since the R-1 revision, they corrected on the R2(which by everyone input seems to be the best of the series) and probably the R3. Now it seems the m18x-R1 have this issue also and as you know I have one coming my way and I would love to see if the problem really started even before the m18x was designed. So if you willing please give me a hand help to determine if this is the case, so let's do the scientific way, What should we do as step one?
