  1. Hm 100W each card. Tight fit or no fit for crossfire in M17x-R2 with 240W power supply?
  2. Sweet, I think I might get that one. Is this it: Amazon.com: RocketfishTM - Gaming Mouse Pad - Black: Computers & Accessories ? or maybe this? Rocketfish Gaming Mouse Pad RF-GMSEPD (600603139413) | eBay
  3. Heya so... I eventually ended up ordering Razer Scarab from youtube as it is a very hard surface and it has decent reviews. Hoping that it may help other people, here are the other good surfaces I found but decided to pass (and the reasons why): - Razer Goliathus (I had control edition). Feels good, but I don't want cloth. - XTRAC Ripper (cloth, even tho top rated on newegg) - Razer Ironclad (lots of people complain it "peels" very quickly, more than 50% reviews on newegg is 1 or 2 eggs) - Steelseries QCK+ (cloth) - Alugraphics GamerPro XXL (review: Alugraphics GamerPro XXL mousepad review vs Razer Destructor comparation too expensive; ships from Germany) - - Puretrak Talent: I "heard" lots of pro gamers use this one but based on youtube video review, looked too soft as well. Other I heard that are good (by browsing on overclock.net): - Corepad C1 cloth I think all of these are really good and I might go with another one: XTRAC Ripper (due to low price of $18) for my office for G7 (it doesn't track well on Megasoma). I would say the choice is more a matter of taste and maybe how sensitive you use the mouse. I use the mouse at relatively low (1000) DPI and just prefer a smoother and hard mousepad so went with Scarab mainly because it has great reviews and a similar surface (Fractal 2.0) to Razer Destructor that my friend has and is very good quality.
  4. Hi all, I'll try out this game tomorrow as they have open beta test Fri to Sun. If you want to try it out download the client from the official website: News - TERA or if you want to see how the game looks like check it out here: tIt's like WoW, except that the combat is completely different (you aim) for more FPS-like and I think this is playable with a controller. I'll post back tomorrow after I get some first impressions.
  5. Welcome to the exciting world of AMD Catalyst drivers! :-/ It its surprising you aren't able to make it work with any overclock.... I know it varies from card to card, but still weird!

  7. Have you tried the Dell drivers first? I use Driver Sweeper to wipe out all traces until Win report Standard VGA adapter for both cards, then reinstall Catalyst.
  8. I had the similar problem at some point. One of my cards (5870M) got stuck on Power Savings frequency but I managed to fixed it simply by doing clean driver install. I haven't tried overclocking mine. (Yet. )
  9. Hi all, I am currently in the process of buying two mouse pads, one for home and one for work. I use mice or relatively low sensitivity, my G7 on about 800 DPI and Deathadder on (I think) 1000 DPI so I'd need a bigger mousepad preferably for speed. For now, I used Razer Megasoma (too rough for me for Deathadder and G7 laser sensor doesn't track properly on it), Razer Goliathus Control (nice but gave it away + want something smoother), Razer Kabuto (garbage) and Alienware mouse pad that I use right now with Deathadder. Two problems with that mousepad is that even after 5-6 months usage its already worn out in the middle and its too small for me. ATM I use G7 on the smooth white wooden surface on my office desk. I would also prefer to stay away from expensive pads. Also, I'd like something that's not too soft and has a nice big area. So basically I am curious what you guys are using and do you have recommendations?
  10. You mean a front page post? I'm not sure what to write in that case, except to copy-paste it verbatim (so I rather did it here). Pretty much what mw86 said sums it up. We don't get IPS, don't get RGB LED, don't get any kind of high res display. And if these graphic cards can be fit ordered online and fit into MXM 3.0, there seems to be exactly zero reasons to buy it. (Unless Ivy Bridge turns out to have something spectacular.)

LCD: 18.4" FullHD LCD White-LED Glossy...sorry, still no RGB-LED offered on this model. Also, it's still "stuck" at FullHD (2MP) resolution. 12. Wow, really?! Just fail Dell... fail. You can't make a DESKTOP that doesn't overheat? ROFL!
  13. I think the main advantage of custom built desktops is that you get warranty for individual parts. That said, the failure rates are probably way lower as well. Oh and last but not least important, you don't have to deal with the miserable excuse of Dell "tech" "support". Also, you can cherry pick whatever parts you want for your comp. You don't need to rely on Dell or someone equally (in)competent to do it for you.
  14. $41 on AVA Direct (I haven't ever dealt with this website though): BIGFOOT NETWORKS Killer Wireless-N 1103 Wireless Card, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, Internal PCIe Half Mini Card : AVADirect Custom Computer Component so seems like a really nice deal.
  15. Yeah, awkward... as if NO ONE HAS EVER DONE THAT! RIGHT!
  16. My thoughts exactly. I am not aware of any Diablo3 demo. Link?
  17. I played maybe 5 mins tops and can't say I like it. Overall the game looks like its made 10 years ago and there are some issues with in-game text at the 113% DPI I am currently using in Windows. I have to say this is the first game ever I've played that uses Windows DPI for the in game text. Other than that the controls seem kind of .... clunky. I suppose I'll keep waiting for Guild Wars 2 / Diablo 3.
  18. The tests and their results look quite in favor for Bigfoot Killer WiFi. However, I don't understand why they tested the latency the way they did. Why not fire up few online games and show by how much the actual ping differs? In these pictures, I see the increase can be from 3.6 to 7ms decrease in latency with Killer over Intel WiFi. With typical pings that I had in WoW (around 50ms US server) to League of Legends right now (~100ms), that's really not that big of an increase (about 7-14% for 50ms case). The difference looks quite big when the absolute values of latencies are single digit, which (I think) is actually pretty rare if you're gaming over the internet. Question for thought. Is the difference going to be larger for 2.4GHz if you're using a wireless mouse (which would work on 2.4GHz). Interference on some mice can be pretty substantial, depending on the load, e.g. Logitech G7 barely works if you're downloading something over WiFi on the laptop where its hooked up. I still think -- wired is the way to go for gaming. Especially since there aren't that many computers that can work long without ac power while gaming. P.S. I edited your title to make it more clear what is the comparison about.
  19. Hi all, just FYI I merged the R4 posts in the same thread so that various posts about the same thing aren't scattered around. Thanks.
  20. And especially with the link containing the same photos already posted in the other thread: http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m17x/1667-alienware-m17x-r4-spotted.html I'll lock this thread, since if anyone wants to add something to the discussion about the same thing, it should be in the same thread. Thanks.
  21. I am installing it. My first impressions: very annoying installation windows that's centered on the screen and always on top. -.-
  22. Or... you could just build the desktop on your own (I'm sure you can get away cheaper). What are the specs on X51?
  23. 4. Call Dell tech support. "Sir, we have to do some troubleshooting first. Can you please hold Fn and Power on the laptop."
