Even if the laptop didn't use two nvidia cards?
It's just a typical Optimus setup. An iGPU and a nvidia gpu. Nothing special.

Hi, yes I just disabled my gt750m in device manager and restarted my laptop. I am using nvidia GTX1060 6GB from Zotac in mini version.
It should. With the intel graphics, it should be done quite easily. y400/500 have hardware-disabled the iGPU, so no luck for me XD

I don't know. It is giant gpu, maybe was bad connect.
It could be. Sometimes I experienced the fan spinning while the graphics card is not actually showing up. It's probably caused by a poor contact and can be easily fixed by reconnecting or sth like that.

With Nvidia HD 7950 is functioless. In device manager i don´t see any other GPU then GT650M
Do you mean your eGPU doesn't show up in the device manager? It seems like a incorrect connection. not bios problems.

Hi and thanks for the reply. Just tested it and everything works fine.
According to my tests, just disable them in the device manager.(Haven't found related bios options lol) nvidia ones works fine. It seems that amd ones don't work in this way.

Hi, could you describe how to get the internal display to work with the eGPU?
for y410p/510p, attach the egpu (must be nvidia card), disable the GT750M/GT755M, disconnect any external display and everything should work fine. Optimus should be utilized in this way.

@High_Voltage thanks,
I forgot to say that it wouldn't recognize the card with the Nvidia driver uninstalled (it doesn't recognize what it is, just that something's connected.) Once the driver was installed, having it boot with the card in would cause the blue screen/ bootloop
Actually, it seems like a poor contact. Sometimes I loosen my adapter accidentally can cause this issue.

do you have any more pictures/information on this mod? What is this? A Ultrabay adaptar that have both PCI Express and SATA connectors?
That's simple.Just glue a 2.5“ to ODD tray and the adapter together then everything is great

@gerald Where did you got these ultrabay connectors? I'd like to design something on my own

I think it would be really cool to have an ultrabay adapter that sat in the laptop all of the time with a connector on the outside of the laptop that would go to a separate full sized pci slot. That way you wouldn't have to keep inserting the board everytime you docked.
Hey I'm currently working on it. Stay tuned for that.(But I'm not planning to sell one of them)

can the ultrabay gpu work in tandem with the mSATA ultrabay connector?
I am not sure what you are talking about.
For the sata inside the ultrabay, that is a dedicated standard SATA port.
And it has nothing to do with the one connected to the GPU.(actually there are two ports there).it just physically conflict with the GPU port. Just run a cord and all things will be fine.

@High_Voltage My Telegram account have been PMed to you.
And now we are trying to figure out something like an eGPU enclosure. That's utilized the ultrabay pcie for GPU and sata utilized for external HDD.
I'd prefer the hareware hack(that's Plug-n-Play and don't need too much config for end-user), but if the software one works, that's also awesome.
What's more, having internal display functionality is perfect.
8 hours ago, High_Voltage said:Update: Looks like Svl7 has released a mod for Y500/Y400 too!
yes. I've currently using that. That one runs perfectly.

Also, is that same method to modificate the BIOS work on y400/500?I wonder how you've modded the bios.(I have the original one and modded one HEX compared but found nothing imo, maybe I needed some deassembly work.)
And with the mod,y410p/510p can plug anything in(including ethernet cards or anything pcie),and before mod, anything except nvidia cards will work(only these nvidia ones will trigger reboot).
But on y400,all of these will trigger a reboot.
Any idea is appreciated.Thx anyway!

Do you happen to have access to soldering iron, wires and Arduino nano (or clone) by any chance
Yeah,I HAVE! An arduino nano,a raspberrypi B+,and an MSP430(having SDA,SCL to read/write i2c,which have something identical with smbus)
But I don't know how to do this hack. How to write the fake Temp/fan values to SMBus? Any idea for that? Does the EC/BIOS containings indicates something? Or some other modification is also needed?
BTW,The RC verison runs perfectly on y410p/510p.Cheers!

Well I looked through your topic. My friend tried it and succeasfully running an GTX970 on y510p.But I have a y400 and a GTX1070.I noticed that there's no approach for y400 till now. Anything can I do to deal with the issue with y400?
Thx anyway.You guys are awesome.
btw,I'm a student and may not have too much free time. but I will try my best.

If you have a y410/510p which is i5 based,it's likely you could only get the 35w tdp i7. Or they will not be turbo as they should be.(for the VRM have a phase missing on these mobos) For i7 based ones, I got a bga to lga converter and a 4980HQ which works perfectly.
Maybe i'm no gonna sell them. I hand-made them. Repeating the process is really frustrating.
