  1. @svl7 when can msi gt users get the the 1.025- 1.05v vbios mod? tnx
  2. yes sir, I am feeling the hot hair coming out from the vents from my hands as well.. Even if i use the stock vbios and official release of ec firmware, still the temps goes as high as 96degrees celcius (with turbo fan on and using AB) while playing dx11 games like BF3,dirt showdown at ultra settings. So the stock thermal pads that came with the gtx680m isn't sufficient enough to stabilize the temps? Please someone help me tame this GTX680M beasts and could someone posts some pics with the original MSI GT60-one with GTX680M plus the actual size layout of thermal pads. I hear my fan is spinning hard but I dont know how loud it is compared to other owners. I am thinking of adding/modding some gpu small coppers to attach it on the gpu heatsink plus replacing the thermal pads with high quality 0.5mm, plus replacing the ic diamond thermal paste with MX4? What do you think? Thanks
  3. Can someone (who owns an msi gt60) post some screen shots on the gpu heatsink layout as well as if there's a gpu-bracket mod at the back of the mxm board? I want to lower the temps while playing dx11 games though.. or is the fan of my NB defective? Still the fan is blowing hard though.. I dont know how high the fan spins at 100% or how loud it is... Thanks
  4. Thanks. I've left the bclk to 100fsb now. leaving the cpu at stock speeds with modded ec firmware. The NB is running fine now but while playing dx11 games highest temps reaches at 93degrees celcius... after 2 hrs of play is stable. I turned on the turbo mode on and ran it for several minutes but the screen froze. I just used the task manager to exit the game though.. I Think i must not turn on the turbo mode on while playing dx11 games as the gpu is reaching 93 degrees for sometime? But wait what are the symptoms of PSU of your NB (msi gt60 if your gpu is oc'ed with AB plus using a slight bump in bclk) if it cannot handle the power?
  5. I used this modded ec firmware and went back to the original one because of heat issues of the beastly gtx680m.BETA EC for GT60 (16F3) & GT70 (1762) As one of the users of beta ec firmware said Warner of MSI tech said What u are trying to point out is you are using the official release ec firmware. Now who really doesnt make sense? Because i am one one of those users using the modded ec firmware. I was addressing my problem to svl and gave a temporary solution because i am using his modded vbios. Or are you svl7? Thanks anyway
  6. @svl7 I have found out a temporary solution to my gt680m temps when reaching 80 degrees celcius and up... By using the official EC firmware from MSI it eliminates the stutter with these temps. although i dont know if it eliminates the throttle but the original firmware makes dx11 games stable.. One question though. Is it normal if you play dx 11 games with temps reaching between 80 -90 degrees? Im using AB with +232 core clock, +561 mem clock, + bclk of 106fsb
  7. hmmm. but whenever i benchmark or play games, i turn on the turbo fan. I also updated the firmware on this one http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=162629.0....
  8. @svl7 Here's the pic My old gtx670m have no gpu bracket as the nb got 4 mounting holes for the mxm board. Thats why i removed the bracket so that the gpu is properly inserted on the MXM slot. This is the bracket with mounting holes that I am referring to. How to remove that mounting holes from that bracket?
  9. @svl7 Thanks sir for the info... but for msi gt60/70, I need to remove the gpu bracket as "the holes with the threads for fixing the screws" needs to be removed in order for the mxm board to be properly inserted on the mxm slot.
  10. @trigger have you ever did a backplate on your 680m? svl7 said to do a backplate mode in order to resolve the temp issue. still im having 90degrees temps when playing dx11 games. i did clean the fans and did a repaste though... thanks
  11. did this noob question... you got any guide on how to do a backplate mod? Im using an msi gt60 and i removed the gpu bracket. The brackets are not compatible with msi laptops (gpu cannot be inserted with the gpu brackets) not like alienware nb.... Thanks
  12. Using MSI bios really is kool. tested in 3dmark11 and produces excellent results. BUt i really cant tame this beastly card when it comes to temps. When playing dx11 games like crysis 2, dirt showdown etc.. the temps rises to 90 degrees celcius. When it reaches at this temp. the game stutters and fps jerks alot.... I tried lowering my AB to core clock +30, and mem clock +460.. still degrees rose to 90 degrees and it stutters at this temp.... Can give some advice guru's thanks
  13. I saw this 220 watts on delta electronics inc. Same manufacturer with the original ac adapters for MSI GT 60/70 series... 180watts Welcome to Delta Electronics, Inc. - Power Management 220 watts Welcome to Delta Electronics, Inc. - Power Management Question.. If i want to upgrade my mobile cpu to Extreme series.. Is the 220 watts sufficient? Because my gpu now is 680M. And is this adapter compatible with the NB? I can see same specs though .. Only there's a slight difference in Output rating.. 12v/15a (180watts) vs 12v/18.3a(220watts) plus the connector is atx for 220watts is there a converter for this one? Sorry for this noob question... Thanks
  14. Thanks guys... Anyway I bought one gt680m from eurocome. It's a beast of a card... One thing i've noticed when looking in the bios... My GT60-onc became GT60-one!! which is great.. I've looked on the bios version between gt60-onc and gt60-one on msi website and they both have the same version. So if msi tech people have a new bios release can i use the gt60 one instead? Would you guys know of a cooler or additional shims or mem shims to mod or add in the gpu heatsink for this laptop? when im playing games the temps reaches to 90 degrees (I can't tame this beast when it comes to temp + with afterburner while playing dx11 games). Of course I am using the latest modded vbios of sir svl7 which is a great vbios for this card...
  15. @svet Thank you sir for the msi mod vbios... But are you going to release a 2nd rev (vbios) with a little nudge on voltage (voltmod) for msi gtx680m? Thanks
  16. @mino Thanks, but the screen shot is soo tiny i cant see the values you put there... So you are using nvidia inspector.. You're not using afterburner?.. If not can show me the values (in detail) on how you fiddled with the settings of inspector? Can teach me the basics too? I havent tried that one yet though... Thanks... Oh and thanks to svl7 for creating the modded bios for msi this is my highest though... http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/5328589
  17. @mino Can you post some screen shots of GPUZ for that 8k barrier you did for your 680m card? tnx
  18. @svl7 Where can i download the vbios nvidia gtx680m for msi gt60? Cant find it on the first page... Thanks
  19. Question @slv or to any Guru's, I own an msi gt60-onc and planning to upgrade my videocard to an nvidia gtx680m but with a clevo, alienware brand. I would like to update the vbios of the vcard to an MSI modded vbios by slv. What procedures will i take? My laptops bios is updated to this bios version E16F3IMS.10P MSI Global ? Download Center Just flash under dos mode? "nvlash -4 -5 -6, then hit enter"?
  20. @trigger can send me the stock msi gt680mx vbios? it seems in ebay there's no msi gtx 680m on sale. only vcards coming from alienware, clevo and the most expensive from eurocom are the one's on sale right now...
  21. @trigger Thanks. so these vbios'e from slv7 http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/1847-nvidia-kepler-vbios-mods-overclocking-editions-modified-clocks-voltage-tweaks.html for MSI is good to update right? No need for a modded driver? thanks
  22. Question guru's... I have an MSI GT60-onc... If i upgrade and get any brand of nvdia GTX680M is it compatible? Manufacturers from Alienware, CLevo, or Eurocom? And do I need ESD strap & mat while changing the card? Or just Do-It-Yourself to avoid static while replacing the card. Thanks<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
  23. Hmmm... Tomorrow is today.. Was wondering when will the screenshots be posted
  24. @Xonar Can this be done? with the proper firmware mod if you can mod firmware too? thanks
  25. Can i see 3dmark11 results to those people who got gt660m overclocked and what frequencies u benchmarked your gpu's? thanks
