  1. Did you went over every 2 pins and checked for continuity in them? Also, the socket plastic seems melted, not everybody can do it, is not hard I guess but is not something everybody can do it. Last thing... could there be a custom bios required/custom bios options to unlock both banks of memory or maybe some small resistors/capacitors around that are missing as well?
  2. When I shorted the first pins (my laptop was just fine before that) it made it not booting. When I shorted the other pins I was able to boot. From my testing those jumpers will clear the CMOS data (whatever that means) and the time. But it will not clear NVRAM settings (stuff you mess up while in BIOS menus) so it will not help with making your laptop bootable. I consider bricked a laptop that displays nothing on screen. Keyboard could light up or... no.
  3. You only need one file, but assuming your "desperate" situation, I will assume you will try both names anyway, whatever it works. Try maybe with a different USB stick like mentioned above.
  4. Either of them should work, add one to a USB stick and try with Ctrl+Home then Power button. Filesystem of the rescue drive should be FAT32. If not working, then try with another stick. Or a sdcard in a cardreader. Eventually it should work...
  5. You can find PhoenixTool on digital life forum or on the net. When you open the recovery BIOS file in PhoenixTool it will show a popup with the recovery file name that must be used. Shorting JRST2001 for me actually bricks the laptop, to unbrick it I also have to short the JRST2002 pin. Cant say exactly what is doing, didnt investigated much as I discovered it won't help me with the NVRAM persistence.
  6. Try the Ctrl+Home pressed and while keeping them pressed press power button. It should hopefully attempt to boot from USB stick and reflash the bios. The bios must be on a simple USB stick formatted as FAT32. The filename for recovery can be obtained with andytools. If this will work you will see the usb led for activity flashing differently than usual. So if usb is flashing then is only a mater of matching the filename/firmware. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The other option would be the recovery using a SPI chip programmer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. You have to make the eGPU detected. How is you eGPU reacts when is powered on? Does it spins its fans? Leds up? Any sign of activity? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Most probably yes, thunderbolt is like a cascading of pci devices, and makes it even more complicated to fit every device in the pci space. There could be an option to make it easier or plug and play, but it requires a bios mod (to alter tolud and thunderbolt options). Im working on a bios mod for this but is not a top priority, i will let you know my findings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. You will need setup 1.3, or at least a way to prevent windows from loading, like pressing F8, and waiting in the menu. After that you can power on PE4L, and see what happens. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I managed to get my G750JW working over thunderbolt. How are you connecting your egpu? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. You can, but I recommend to override the DSDT first by using setup 1.3. Only if it works then you can think about modding your bios. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. What platform you have? Changing brightness could be possible, but if macos is doing it accessing the ACPI space and overriding the function bodies in dsdt then you will need to do same in windows. You can probably try to edit the dsdt directly in BIOS and boot with it or try to override it like nando describes in egpu tutorials. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Probably uou need a fitc for your motherboard series. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Couldnt find a better solution at that time. So I went ahead and made that hole to let the extender non flexible part some space. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
