Hey, thanks for the reply. Actually I have bought 1080 and the performance bonus was quite significant in comparison to GTX670 I have had. With GTX670 I have got 5000 points in demo version of 3DMark, but with GTX1080 I am getting almost 9000 points! With that improvement I am able to play in Resident Evil 7 on max settings! Contrary With GTX670 it was barely playable on lowest settings. I am not care much about error 43, be cause: 1. I have bought GTX1080 due my GTX670 "past away" and with thoughts of switching to TB3 notebook in foreseeable future; 2. When it comes to hardware or\and software my preference is to stick to the rule "If it ain't broke, do not fix it".

Saw how much people viewed the topic, I have found an answer - it is possible, but you forced to use older drivers for that task.

Hello! The title. Currently I am using GTX670 without any problem. I know that there will be almost no performance improvement if I switch to one of the 10xx cards (1070 or 1080 preferable). But still, I want to know if there anyone here can approve or disapprove the possibility such eGPU set-up: X220+ nVidia (1060, 1070 or 1080). P.S. I have modified BIOS so setting up TOLUD will not be a problem and I am on Windows 7 x64 Home Pro. Thanks for your time.

Hello everyone! Everything is very easy if you have a pair of hands, solderer, flux, desoldering pump, and magical silent switches. All of these you can buy online almost for nothing. Teardown your mouse, change original switches to silent ones. Remember, that one of the three legs is useless (see the marks on the textolite). That is it! No one will be annoyed by clicking sound from no on! Be careful if you use solderer for the first time: 1. It is always good to watch some Youtube videos first; 2. Do not overheat textolite or components. During soldering things, apply heat no more than 3 seconds, otherwise there is a risk to damage textolite or components. Good luck! No need in any USB\RJ45 etc, just display related ports (HDMI, Display Port) will be more than enough. Additional data ports are just another hit for bandwidth. IMHO.

No, no and no. If you use nVidia I strongly advise to set "Automatic" for Express card port in "Power section", and "Gen2" for PCI Express Root in "Advanced" section, otherwise your eGPU will work on Opt 1.1 speed and not on Opt 1.2, which cuts speed in half.

Yep, I have this problem to, but it does not bother me much, because it is rare. Every time my notebook fall into constant restarts at POST, I just detach battery and put it back again.

For solution you need to contact Oleh mandriva64(at)gmail.com, cause I only have modified BIOS based on the dump of my computer's BIOS, if you flash it you will half brick you notebook. Oleh has template BIOS-mod, that is suitable for all X220 machines, no SPI programmer needed - just download and flash it. Be careful with advanced menu!

After flashing new modified BIOS (whitelist removed, 1866 unlocked and many other things) with advanced menu you can change memory frequency and TOLUD size! Hi there, What I need: 1. Unblocked advanced menu in X220 BIOS; 1. Unlocked memory speed 1866 on the systems with active TPM (get rid of "5-5 beeps and delay" problem on start-up without deactivating of TPM itself); 2. SLIC 2.1; 3. No White-list. I understand it is an uneasy task and to make it possible you need to have some inside info about how TPM operates in Lenovo's X220 and how RSA checksum calculation goes. Here how it looks like: I have SPI programmer and full dump of the BIOS, so I think it is safe to do different experiments. Thanks in advance.

Hi all, The subject, I cannot decide which to choose. I mainly do a lot of paper work and sometimes playing games. Pixel density of P2314H is higher then P2414H, so the image should be better on first one, not so grainy, am I right? Thanks for any advice in advance

Hi all. Firstly, I want to say that I have 2 eGPU: PE4L 2.1b+ GTX670 (use it myself) and EXP GDC V6 + GTX 670 (my wife's). Recently, my notebook often cannot detect the eGPU. My steps are like this: 1.Plug in eGPU and start the notebook; 2.Notebook starts, detects eGPU (video card works, fans spin); 3.Notebook restarts (to allocate memory space, right? normal behaviour, it was always like this); 4.After restart, notebook should detect an eGPU, and they should work together, but nothing happens. There are only lights on PE4L, the video card does not work (fans not spin) and notebook starts as just there is no eGPU attached to it. I have tried to power of the system, dismount battery of the notebook, then plug all together again, but still no hope. Then, I have started to search for the cause. Good thing I have two eGPUs. I have started from the first step, but this time used EXP GDC (with the same video-card), and it works just fine. Then I unplugged PE4L again... It started normally SO, ever since, every time I have such kind of issue with PE4L, I need to use EXP GDC first to make PE4L work. Anybody can explain to me what could have happened to my PE4L eGPU? Is the problem in PE4L or PSU or other? Any workarounds? Thanks in advance
