  2. @Dschijn thats a bad news , the only reason i have a egpu was to speed up the Final Cut rendering what is the consequence if i haven't make the barrel plug and only using akitio dc adapter to power up. the cord of the barrel is too short thats why haven't figure out to make a long one.

I am using Macbook Pro 15, early 2011 , osX el captain, intel hd 3000, dgpu amd 6750M, 16gb ram egpu - gigabyte AMD 7970 HD Gpu card i was able to install it without any issue. i have setup the external monitor as primary i don't see any gpu performance. when i put to rendering it use lots of cpu. and it takes even longer. How do know Final Cut x or compressor is using my egpu for rendering? what kind of test i can do? thank you for your help
  4. Hello, Can you please tell me me what software do you render? Final Cut x? why did you choose NVIDEA? over AMD ? because everyone said amd has open gl, therefore how does it effect the rendering output? Can you explain the process of the iMac and the egpu? meaning when you connect and power up everything for the first time after the driver installation, the iMac think that you have a ogpu and any program will use it? such as Final Cut or aftereffect? if you can even make a video Thank you
  5. @Dschijn what will be faster rendering video with finalcut x or compressor, amd hd 7970 or gtx 970? or even lower gtx model for thunderbolt 1? why is people using gtx too much on this forum?
  6. okay so i bought my aikitio thunder 2 i want to use my egpu mainly for my finalcutx rendering, on MacBook Pro i7 (15-inch, Early 2011) intel HD3000 + AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB, El capitan, SSD initially wanted to buy MSI R9 380 video card but looks like it doesn't work on mac OS X el captain so i am buying Asus HD 7970 based on suggested from many ppl i think? do i need a psu with this setup? how many watts? what else do i need before to began with? Thank you for your help
