Laptop isn't detecting my 780M after flashing vBIOS
svl7 replied to Lightning's topic in General Notebook Discussions
What was your original vbios version? -
+135MHz Most of the options are locked in the stock bios. I have an AW17 now myself, and the options in the stock firmware are rather disappointing. With my 4910QM I can at least go to Advance -> Performance Option -> Overclock feature -> enable and then I get some goodness, i.e. it allows to adjust the turbo multi to a certain degree, as well as the bus clock. I think that should be the same for the 4710MQ as well. For more performance related settings you'll need to unlock the bios.

It sure is, at least imho. Especially their references on very recent topics. Since they don't produce the episodes in advance they can easily react and comment on things that are in the news at the time a new episode gets released. If you like Game of Thrones you really have to watch at least some episodes of the last season... it's a brilliant parody of GoT (among other things, e.g. the console war... simply hillarious )

I don't watch TV. The only series I followed last year was South Park. Gonna watch the new season as well. Starting next month Haven't seen this listed here... nobody watching?

Nvidia GTX Titan - modified VBIOS for more control and better overclocking
svl7 replied to svl7's topic in NVIDIA Video Cards
Does it crash? Or how does it behave? Which driver? -
Not sure whether that would work, would have to see the vbios first. LV? As in low voltage? Technically it is compatible in most cases... but it will give you an error when flashing. And if you have a certain vram type on your board it wont work. 1.21V is the hard limit, anything above it's solder time. Normal or Classy?

You can't flash from 3.05, you need to downgrade to 2.07 first, then you can go ahead and flash from 3.05. Read and follow the instructions carefully. Failure to do so may result in severe issues.
-
Ask them for the recovery procedure, I'm positive that it is implemented, but they might have changed the key combo or whatever... Usually there's a way to reset the defaults with a simply procedure and even to re-flash the bios.

Hmm, interesting, I thought it should work fine. I mean 120Hz is not possible with the Intel HD, and Optimus isn't possible with 120Hz, but that doesn't mean the Intel HD doesn't work on 60Hz on eDP. I just tried it and about the time Windows should show the desktop I get a black screen. Another thing I'll have to investigate I guess. I was under the impression that it should work.

Increasing refresh rate on the 18's internal screens
svl7 replied to Topshelff's topic in Alienware M18x / AW 18
You clearly never used a 120Hz+ screen. -
Okay, not sure what I can do about that then, will see. Sounds like another driver mess up from Nvidia. Nothing new there... as expected tbh. Changing to 60Hz on Battery is a good idea anyways... well on battery changing to the Intel HD will be the best idea, really.

Okay, I'll check it out when I get the chance. I have a 330W and the standard 240W PSU. I also have the 3d screen, so I'll try and investigate regarding the vbios issue. Does that only happen when the display is set to 120Hz or also at 60Hz?
-
I agree, except for it not being absolutely necessary. As part of the spi circuit it might as well be crucial for the card to work properly.
-
I now have the same setup. If you let me know your settings I can try to reproduce that issue.
-
Opps, that's what I meant. Is it a keeper? Or haven't you decided yet?
-
Soo... you're rocking an AW17 now? That cooler looks awesome!
-
I think someone else had a similar error a while ago, and if I'm not mistaken the issue was with the DOS installation. Maybe try that again, download the files once more, format the drive, and freshly install the files... Don't copy the DOS files manually, let the tool handle that.
-
I don't know whether it will work in the Clevo, no idea. I was asking about the vbios version to make sure the Clevo version is compatible with your card.
-
What's your current vbios version?
-
-.- Are you kidding? I can see that from the pic. I wanted to know the model. Dude, if you want help then provide some information. It's really annoying if I have to ask for every tiny bit of information twice.
-
That is the chip. Cool. Now I know so much more. Seriously.. what kind of chip is it?
-
First of all you should make sure that my assumptions are correct, I can't be 100% sure from that pic only.

Just post it here so that everyone that needs it can use it.
