I would recommend to use an aftermarket cooler, like the accelero or Alpenföhn Peter. By the later one you can replace the fans if they are still to loud, maybe with a pair of Be quiet or Noiseblocker fans.

I would like to recommend the Stalker Series to you, there are three games, shadow of tchernobyl, Clear Sky and Call of Pripjat. Each of this comes with it`s own mods, great examples are the complete series for all three games or the SMRTER mod for Call of pripjat. More mods are developed right now. There is also a standalone modification called lost Alpha which is for free. It is basically a totally reworked Shadow of Tchernobyl Other great games are Skyrm (with mods) and the Fallout Series (The 4th Part is currently in development and will be releasen in Nov 2015)

There are many more mods out there for this awesome game series and more are developed at the moment. Another great game is Skyrim which also has an enormous amount of mods. Fallout could be also interesting for you the 4th game of the series will be revealed in Nov 2015

You could save the money for the Alpha and instead buy a laptop (you can do many things with this little portable machines) or maybe a console like ps4 or xbone which are only for gaming but usually last long because games are optimised for them over a long period. But personally I would go with a Laptop.

Core 0 is used to run the background programms of windows and can`t utilize its full computing power for your game. Most games actually use 2 cores and even if they use more, core 0 ist the one with the highest workload, so in your case you have one core, which is core 0 dealing with windows processes and your game, by disabling core 0 for arma it switches to core 1 and 2 I think, which means that you now have the full computing power of 2 cores.

I agree with infosk8er that the goal should be one chip that can do literally everything. Currently multi GPU setups are somewhat complicated, (Just think of the nasty drivers, stuttering, and so on) so I hope that these problems will be solved in future. Maybe you should try to make a sketch focused on a single gpu line up. While working on your project I would advise to think of similar solutions already existing, like the graphics amplifiers from alienware or msi, maybe this could help or inspire you.
