Hi. I have: Alienware m17x R4 and Alienware m17x R3 so I did this for R4 with 7970: I've created a bootable FAT32 USB drive with rufus. ( https://rufus.akeo.ie/ ) This created a FreeDOS system, the boot files. FreeDOS option must be selected before formatting. I then downloaded the VBIOS: ( https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/132831/Dell.HD7970M.2048.120629.rom ) I renamed the file tu 7970.rom, then copied the memory stick. I downloading that: AtiFlash3.95 ( https://app.box.com/s/b3433fed2ee8ffbb1938 ) The contents of the zip file is copied to the USB flash drive root directory, wherein is 7970.rom. Then the machine is restarted. F12 is pressed and the USB storage boot option to choose from. Freedos started .... The following command at the VBIOS update occurred: atiwinflash -f -p 0 7970.rom I hope you succeed.
