  1. 28. so old. make myself feel young by throwing myself off mountains daily (well, feel 'alive' anyway )
  2. ^- hey, new muse is pretty cool +/- crazy video intro... Flight Facilities, Sunshine <3 (triple j hottest 100 2014 playlist on spotify actually) - reminds me of snowboarding

    Winter... !! :)

Just came back from winter in the USA to 'sunny australia'. Damn summer is awful, even in the cold parts. Winter (even though destructive) is just so beautiful and wonderful (slightly drunk, regret that I can't be at the snow post)
  4. I use an fps limit in some games (particularly shooters) to ensure a consistent framerate, reduce heat/noise (laptop) and also, probably most importantly, in some games: to ensure consistent input lag. The last point is really messed up - to the point that 60 vs 120hz locked on a 60hz screen feels different because the input is handled more regularly. Note that this doesn't apply to all game engines of course.
  5. I saw something similar (I think) with my 770M. It only happened once though, and was when the machine was recovering (ish) from a slightly-too-high overclock. The driver eventually recovered, but afterwards it wouldn't go above 400MHz or so. Restarting the machine fixed it. As such, the issue could be related to too-high clocks or too-little voltage perhaps? Worth trying to underclock your card slightly and see if the issue still reoccurs?
  6. If you have a gaming desktop, a gaming laptop is total overkill and won't get used in my experience. The exceptions are: if you travel a lot or aren't at home a lot (assuming that's where your desktop is). Basically, I would get the chromebook or something equally nice and small and light etc. that will do you for work/media/etc. when you're not at home and then game on your desktop As for specific models, I don't know the chromebooks well as an australian, but I know quite a few people who run macbooks (or airs) with windows for the purpose you want. There are a lot of them about and second hand they can be ok value. Other than that, lower end flagships (such as XPS, envy, samsung series 9(?) etc.) from big manufacturers are ok buys from time to time when there are sales. As for which is best, it really depends on your priorities, but again (more general rules), buying a low-end version of the high-end product is a good way to get something nice
  7. For 7-series, sure, it's an older card and there are genuine second-hand cards around (though often a bit hit and miss for quality from what I've heard). 9-series or anything genuinely new is a different matter.
  8. Wow, despite the 'why the hell do this in the first place' factor, this might actually make me reconsider buying a 9-series card for my laptop instead of sticking it out and waiting to see what AMD comes out with
  9. I chose Alienware (refurbished of course, new was a no-brainer for clevo) because I actually ended up getting better specs. for significantly less than the equivalent clevo at the time (australian prices are messed up). These days though, I would reconsider even with a good price due to the soldered CPU and GPU in their newer models
