  1. Dear TI users, as some of you might know i have a car performance parts business in Brazil.

There are quite a few products i'd like to purchase from Germany and my current partner is very hard to reach at times, so i am looking for someone who lives in Germany and is willing to make a few bucks by forwarding packages to myself in Brazil.

Would be nice if that person would have some background in automotive tuning, but it's not a requirement.

Let me know if you're interested either by PM, or, here's my whatsapp where i am available 24/7 -

  2. FYI, you don't need recovery media for a Mac. If you screw up or delete the main Macintosh partition (guess how I know that :P ) it will boot into the recovery mode with WiFi drivers enabled (yeah) and you can just download the latest OSX from their website from there. Unlike some other Win8 laptops where you're pretty much screwed without recovery media (HP Envy crap for example). Also the OS install on their PCI-e SSD is very fast and there is simply just one update to install to have the latest OS.

    EDIT:

I think also nando is correct regarding Thunderbolt. You seem to need a hub to use eSATA drivers on the Thunderbolt, like this one here:

    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H8875ZM/A/lacie-esata-hub-thunderbolt-series

in the ~$200 range (even if less than $320 its still pricey).

How did u screw your Mac hahaha?

Regarding booting my current ssd I am giving up, it's seems like too much work tbh :-)

Hopefully I'll get used to the new os fast.

@Tech Inferno Fan thanks for your explanation!

Detailed and to the point as always!

  3. Hum.. I did get the nvidia version but wasn't planning on any eGPU implementation. So you're saying it's out of the window with nvidia?

Also, from your response I understand there isn't really a way to boot the ssd I have right now directly.

In that case I'll just install windows alongside macos and reinstall my work environment. Seems like quite a lot of work to make an external storage boot able.

  4. Wouldn't it be much slower using an OS from an external drive?

Btw, grats on the Mac! :) RIP Alienware.

Silly me, I assumed there's a esata port :-) If I can somehow connect it via e-sata I don't see why. But connecting as esata isn't an easy task too. I see some adapters, but not sure which would be my best option.

  5. As some of you might know, i've got rid of all my alienwares (m18x and m11x) and instead ordered the latest MBP 15".

I know i can install windows on it using bootcamp, but that's not what i am looking for.

I pulled the windows 8 SSD i had in my m11x and would really like it if i could just boot from it on the mac so i don't have to reinstall all my work environment (DB, Visual Studio, tons of IBM stuff => abour 3-4 full days of work).

I've got a e-sata enclosure i could use to connect it to my mac.

    Hope that's possible guys.

@Tech Inferno Fan - i believe you can help me out here :)

  6. Nice, I didn't even consider the m3800, will definitely take a good look at it as I love that line and always wanted a precision. The 13 mbp configured the way I want it is about 2.2k so the Dell is a good competition. I though about the 15 but too big and heavy for my current requirements.

I am a bit off put by the visual appearance of the X1 and the relatively low resolution screen otherwise it's quite appealing.

Would you guys say the dual core i7 is very underpowered? @Khenglish - nope, don't need to do any cad work or anything else graphic intensive.

  7. Hey guys, as some of you might now, it's been a few months since i've sold my m18x, and have been using my m11x-r3 exclusively for work.

I love it but it does start to show signs of weakness for what i need.

My work often requires me to run a VM, an application server based on Java (that takes quite a lot of memory and CPU time) and and IDE environment.

While the M11x-R3 copes with these tasks, i do wish it could be a tad faster here and there.

So i decided to sell it, and buy a current top of the line business laptop.

So here's my list of "demands"

    Must have

    • 14", i'll do 13 or 15 but prefer not to, as 14 seems to be the sweetspot for me
    • Lightwight as possible (4lbs is the maximum)
    • at least 1600x900 resolution but higher if possible
    • Good battery life
    • Strong processor
    • At least 8 gigs of memory
    • Great build quality, preferrably not plastic
    • USB 3.0

    Nice to have

    • Lots of USB ports as i always seem to need them
    • 3G connectivity
    • International warranty and support

    Don't care

    • Gaming performance

Price isn't a deciding factor, let's say i'll pay up to 1800USD for something i love and will serve me a few years.

Been looking at the HP ZBook 14, Thinkpad X1 Carbon 14" and Macbook Pro 13".

I am not at all a Mac guy, but honestly, the Mac seems as the best of the bunch.

Any good models i've missed or any other suggestions ?

  8. not at all, i used to smoke solo all the time with my volcano, you can make your bag what ever size you like, you can have a 1 foot bag or a 10 foot bag. ive done both. usually i would smoke a 2 1/2 foot bag to my head, and only vape one bag at a time. nothing is ever wasted in a vape. you can make up a bag and take up to 15 mins to smoke it before it goes bad. usually a 1 foot bag will be about 2-3 staving hits, and a 3 footer would be about 6-7 full lung hits.

after you vape some nugs once, you grind it up again and vape it again, then grind it again and max out the temp and vape it once more, then take that vaped weed and put it in a jar for later. when you have enough vaped material, usually a oz or so, you cna make cannabutter with it and cook it up and make some brownies or cookies.

so you get about 4 uses out of one nug, then when its all said and done and your vape bag is all sticky and done. you take that bag and turn around and cook with it because its a heat resistant bag. so you can make a roast in it in the oven. so you get 5 uses overall.

    best use of herb ever.

this is what i used. w/ the solid valve. that way you can have what ever size bag as you want and all you have to do is buy the 10foot roll for replacement bags. which is relatively cheap.

VOLCANO CLASSIC, the famous vaporizer by Storz & Bickel

and here is where i bought mine from and where i will buy my new one.

Volcano Vaporizer by Storz & Bickel

probally get the digital this time, wife wants to give it a try. but solid value with the soft bag.

with the classic of this with the solid and the soft bag its 539$

well worth it because if you buy this unit in store, its 550$ w/o a soft bag carrying case.

as for the vaping with a bong, done that

    index.jpg

and for your statement that bag vaping takes away from flavor, i can tell you first hand that with the volcano going against a whip vape with the same amount of weed and the same strain from the same bag, the volcano wins in flavor and stoneyness. myself and the 4 friends i was smoking with said the same.

heres a clip of me filling the volcano.

    jahy.gif

so yeah, if i died and was told i could only use one way to smoke for the rest of eternity, the volcano would be the smoking device i would choose.

my strain of choice too would be a white strain. what strain is undecided, white widow, white rhino, white berry. cant choose.

as for stationary, i used to use my volcano in my car all the time. pull out my dc to ac converter and plug in my vape, lt it warm up fill a bag, put the vape away (with a special attachment for the lid where the warm top of the vape wouldnt touch the foam and melt it. then smoke the vape bag to head. and put it back in the trunk.

had to do this when i was living in the dorms for college.

    Thanks man, very good info!

Liked the butter / cookies idea! I'll start keeping the vaped material.

Will surely look into the digital volcano.

    Cheers!

  9. Добрый день, помогите пожалуйста найди модифицированный VBIOS для GTX670m. Сейчас установлен Версия VBIOS 70.24.44.00.07 (P1314-0006).
    To Alexkompot.

As to the translation : @Alexkompot is asking for a GTX670m modded vbios, but he failed to specify which subvendor and how much mem does the card have so hopefully he will and we'll be able to sort him out. @Okstis - thanks for the guiding him.

    Cheers.
