  1. Thanks @Hedge and @FricoRico , i've finally got my egpu up and running... How do you guys update the AMD drivers ? I would just like to make sure i'm always on the latest AMD drivers available. And big thanks to @euqlaog for the awesome script! Here's my setup specs - MBP 13 i5 2.6 Late 2013 - Akitio Thunder 2 - MSI Gaming X RX480 - Leadex 550w Gold - Barrel plug that power the Akitio Board
  2. @FricoRico @HedgeHow does your setup perform overall, would you say it is stable, any random crashes? How about gaming in OSX? As you mentioned earlier due to power management issues with these Polaris cards, i'm still thinking whether if I should get the GTX 1070, the downside it isn't supported in OSX yet. I would really prefer a setup that allows me to switch from gaming to desktop use without booting in and out of different types operating systems, so the RX 480 looks like a better choice. But I would like to hear from you if your RX 460 setup is stable for daily normal and gaming use, or should I go for the GTX 1070 instead ?
  3. Hi @nasiryahm . Awesome news getting the GTX 1070 to work with Windows. Any luck getting it to work with OSX El Capitan?
  4. Hi @Mike Thorn did you manage to get the GTX1080 and Akitio to work ?
  5. Excellent build.. I'm also looking into passive cooling options as well.. Corsair RM series and Asus Strix. Do the fans for the GPU and PSU kick in during normal use.. browsing or working (coding, I code on Xcode) ? What kind of powered riser are you using.. do you have a eBay link or a picture of it ? I've seen pictures somewhere in the forums that a cut out on the PC case base is needed to allow room for the riser cable and the capacitor to passthrough and back into the case, without the cut out on the bottom of the case the capacitor on the riser will not leave enough room for the GPU to sit properly, is yours done this way ? Is the EGPU setup hot pluggable ? As an everyday use setup question. My macbook usually stays at home but occasionally I will take it out to work outside from home, I almost never shutdown my Macbook and I usually put it to sleep mode even when I’m travelling with it in my bag. My question, when getting home and reconnecting the macbook to the EGPU do you need to restart OS X in order for the EGPU to be working or is it simply by reconnecting the EGPU thunderbolt cable OS X is able to detect the EGPU without requiring a restart ?
  6. Hello @Shadow_Bullet, I would like to congratulate you on your successful build. I myself am about to build one which is very similar to yours, which is a MBP13 Late 2013 + GTX 970 + Akitio + OS X 10.10.1 I have some questions to ask regarding your build. Hope you are able to share some of your experience. 1. How did you power your Akitio PCIE board ? with a powered riser or with the Atikio adapter ? from you pictures it seems like you are using the Atikio adapter, I’ve read on other threads that the power from the adapter isnt sufficient enough and may experience some problems. 2. From your pictures, I can see that you were able to fit in a full size GTX 970 card onto the Atikio PCIE tray, did you have to modify the tray in order to fit the card ? I’m planning to build a custom case or maybe to buy a mini itx case, but if the Atikio tray can be still be used to hold the GTX 970, I wouldn’t mind saving some money and time using your method. 3. On OSX, I read that you were able to sort out the default driver issue on OSX. Have you experience any lag or delays when using software tools like adobe illustrator or video editing programs or any work softwares ? on another thread someone posted experiencing delays/lag when running softwares like adobe illustrator and after effects on OS X + EGPU. 4. 5. Have you tested any native OS X games - Steam ? any issues ?
