  1. it seems i have solved the issue by modding the driver in a non-regular way for me. if anyone interested, i will share my finds here later.
  2. btw, has anyone tried editing with Maxwell tweaker the Vbios on 980m to a higher clock and TDP and use newest drivers? does it work? it worked for me with 970m and 344.75 driver perfectly, though that one allows OC on it's own.
  3. But m18x does not have 120hz screen option, unfortunately...
  4. hey guys. just installed 980m in m18x r2 today and noticed it is also flickering at unengine page, actually in 2 different machines - same result. can anyone look? https://unigine.com/products/valley/
  5. i have 2 machines m18x with 780m sli at my place currently, both have same flicker at unengine webpage, aswell as pixel walk/inversion test. can any owner of similar machine confirm he has the same issue, please? the page in question: https://unigine.com/products/valley/
  6. anyone having the same issue with their AW18? when the system is shutdown, sent to sleep or hibernated - after this it does not show the screen, but windows is booting. only hard reset resolves this issue.
  7. anyone experiencing similar problems? works perfectly with Intel hd.
  8. recently i have put a thick thermal pad(actually 2 of them in layers) under the chip of the GPU, so that the GPU gets connection with the motherboard and got -3 -5 C less temp on the GPU.
  9. here is the data sheet for your monitor http://mikesmods.com/mm-wp/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/LP173WF2-TPB1.pdf no 60hz mentioned? they wished! just search for "60hz" in the sheet. and i am pretty sure they know it! have you contacted sales or service email? no use speaking with "sales" representative as they only know how to sell... seriously, i have seen 120hz panels before, and guess what? they work even in 24hz mode without a flaw.
  10. no, it is suppose to work in 60hz - they are not speaking the truth to you!
  11. i have recently bought a used AW18 with 780m sli that has a small problem: after a few hours when the machine is shut down, sent to sleep or hibirnated it can not boot up properly: all i see is a black screen, untill the Windows is loaded and the screen starts blinking and i see a teared, flickering and blinking windows password prompt. nothing helpes to resolve it, except hard reset. this happens after an hour or two after the machines has been off, or in sleep mode. otherwise mahcine works flawlesly for many days in a row, unless it has been shut off. maybe someone has an idea what is going on? i have tried Win7, Win8.1, latest machine Bios from Dell and unlocked vBios from Slv7 for both of the cards. thanks!
  12. "awesome" company Xnotebooks.com, "cool" Freeze feature...what more can i say?
  13. btw, i have been told by them that repasting will void guarantee. on the other hand they provide controversial information about it, so you better to check!
  14. what exactly were you other problems? fans? or screen brightness control?
  15. yeah, i also got freeze option for free... but what's the point? i have fans running all the time in idle and nothing to do about it, and up to 85C on GPU's when gaming and benching, freeze my a$$...lol.. though the machine with freeze advanced option was much better, about 7-10 degrees less. i have sealed the gaps on the airway from Cpu fan to the radiator and got a bit less temps for the CPU. also i have closed the opening from the CPU side of the fan with thermal tape, so i does not suck the hot air from the CPU. they also had been nice to me, until i have started to complain. after this i got tons on negativism going my way. maybe if you write them too, they will apologize - who knows... i mean: if i would have clients complaining - i would do my best to solve it. what they did - the put me on hold because they "have to complete new orders that are coming for the holiday" and have no time for me. what? so they think that continuing selling faulty machines is a better goal than to solve the problem with existing sold ones? that does not seem to me like a good business idea for the long run.
  16. i would say 80C for your config would be fine for everything.
  17. you could have went for Y when prompted, as long as you flash 37xsm-a Bios/EC - you should be fine! i assume that it has asked you that when loading EC2, which does not change in version since ver2. so that should not be a problem, but you can try saying "YES" - that will not brick your system, don't worry. but i think result will be the same. Nvidia claims these cards to work up till 100C. but still these temps you get are quite high, they will not kill your laptop straight away, but i would be worried to run the laptop with these temps for too long and i mean months, not hours. especially that you are using cooling pad, makes me think that this is no way normal! if you would get these temps without the cooling pad, that would be somewhere on the edge of acceptable. that is why i am thinking that you laptop fans are misbehaving and possible solution that Bios/EC may have changed that. yes, it is normal that one of the GPUs runs slightly hotter than the other. i am out of solutions for now, except for downvolting your cards, but that would be a workaround not a real solution to this problem, and it may or may not work. what are your ASIC quality readings from both GPUs? tell me if you want to try the downvolting method, you will need to flash your cards with modded vBios a few times though and find right modification for each GPU to work stable. i can help. PM me.
  18. did you try that BIOS 5/EC 5 and hotkeys link i gave you in last message?
  19. can you please try pixel walk in full screen? Inversion (pixel-walk) - Lagom LCD test - - - Updated - - - scroll down the test page and use backward/forward to see all pixel walk tests in full screen please! also if you have an option to go to 50hz, try it too with pixel walk, thanks! can you report this issue to XNB?
  20. what? you mean your 2nd gpu gets to 95C ? 75-80 is fine though for 880m. download this hotkeys for win8 http://www.sagernotebook.com/drivers/misc/p377sma/win8.1/07_hotkey.exe if that doesn't help, try downloading slightly earlier BIOS/EC here http://forum.techinferno.com/attachments/clevo/12680d1411852051-p375sm-a_35_35_stock.rar
  21. you should update your Bios to version 7 and EC to version 6 for windows8.1 https://biosmods.wordpress.com/stock/ https://mega.co.nz/#!HVNCmSYb!IJxqG1Ai3QJW0guf37bNlzXFSbObA9rWB13fTvTdOto see if it makes a difference for you. and thanks to Prema! also download hotkey that is for WIndows8 version
  22. ok, look: i need exact to know exact version of your operating system, your Bios version and EC version. some bios versions are not compatible with win8 and some are not with7, same thing with hotkeys.
  23. do you have 980m sli already installed on your machine? i might find you that 50pin connector, give me a few days!
  24. are you sure all 3 fans are running as they should? also check EC/BIOS version and operating system compatibility.
