Probably to cut the lifespan of the product to improve future sales once the hardware becomes too outdated. Another reason may be that the legal division recommends to do whatever is possible to limit user upgrades in case of liability issues. Bad decisions can come from anywhere really.

I've watched tons of youtube footage of the console versions while waiting for the PC version to come out. I'm stoked to finally get to play it for myself. The heist missions looked like so much fun!

I just got it a couple weeks ago, and I must say that the game is great! I had to wait because I've broken 2 PS3s, and I feel that my OG Xbox 360 is too loud for games with a deep story. Just got a new laptop, and I'm stunned at how good the game looks on ultra settings. Youtube footage does no justice. It's the type of game that makes you strain to hold yourself back when talking about it to avoid spoiling it for someone else.

I've gotta add another plus one for Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed! These aren't necessarily 4 player split screen, but they are great multiplayer pc games: Divekick, Sonic Adventure 2, Skullgirls, Mortal Kombat, Serious Sam 3, and Blur. I second the notion of checking out Co-Optimus' database! It's well sorted, and you can filter games by split-screen capability, and number of players.

From the options you posted, I'm say Far Cry 3. The graphics are great, gun play in the game feels meaty and satisfying, and there is a pretty big in-game world that you can explore. As for what I've been playing recently that I can recommend; 'A Story About My Uncle', 'Bioshock: Infinite', and 'Goat Simulator'. A Story About My Uncle has really fun gameplay mechanics, Bioshock: Infinite has a great story and beautiful graphics, and Goat Simulator... It's a joke game, but it's tons of fun if you like to explore.
