  1. 675M and 580m are technically the same card, but i cannot confirm that flashing a 580m vbios will solve the problem, or not brick the card. Beware the v70.24.2B.00.06 vbios is for an alienware, correct 580m vbios for clevo seem to be 70.24.26.00.01 Don't forget to backup your original vbios before flashing the new one. 2. You also said that you used the latest nvidia driver ... the majority of GTX680M was used in clevo models that support optimus, the bug seem to be resolved on some driver ... but seem to be reintroduced on new one. i stop here, i post a link where you got the proof that it's a driver related issue ... and you don't read, i talk about the "fast startup feature" ... i do my best. Sorry that you can't resolve your problem.
  3. I dig a lot to find the discussion about hibernate problem on P150hm and it was here: Can I upgrade my ClevoP170HM to GTX680M ? It's a driver related issue... but keep in mind that 680m is not officialy supported in P150HM, so Nvidia, Clevo and Microsoft don't validate the driver on it. Windows 8 was released after the P150hm and include some new feature, like hybrid boot, that can in addition with the driver issue cause your problem disable hybrid boot on windows 8
  4. Ok sorry, i am just a little exhausted. It's one o'clock in France. Your reboot/shutdown problem is a NEW issue. The hibernate doesn't seem to impact all system, i say that it can be a driver issue because i have a debate with a guy on an other topic that didn't encounter the problem... But this was a long long time ago ... i loose the Url of that thread, i promiss you, i searched ... this was a discussion on notebookreview forum ...
  5. Yeah yeah ... it's my fault ... you talk about an undocumented issue (shutdown unstead of reboot) and you want me to write about that. You forgot that this thread is writing by a guy during his free time... and like prema says it could be an os related issue. My P150Hm run only on windows seven. I agree that the hibernate issue could be documented, i write about that on other forum but not on that one, i apologize for that. But for your concern, i have sold my P150Hm a year ago, i never test the P150hm on windows 8, and can't do compatibility test anymore. You are angry, it 's your right. But don't shit on my face. By writting this thread i give you some of my time. All the mod, all the tutorials can have issues... you want 100% upgrade success rate : just buy a new computer. I won't update this thread anymore... moderator can erase it if they want... btw, the version of Gtx680m compatible with P150Hm won't be in store anymore. What make me happy is the dozen of people i help with this thread because they had faulty 6990 ...
  6. I am sorry for you.. i never had your shutdown and reboot problem on mine. I only got the problem with waking up after hibernate that don't initialize the card correctly. But with a ssd i don't use the hibernate function anymore. Don't understand what happen on your system then i cannot help. I am not a dev so i cannot fix your problem too. Sorry for that.
  7. I wish that there will be the choice like today (slim laptop with solder component and thick laptop (but if they can optimise, it could be great) with mxm Gpu that can be upgraded), because i don't like slim laptop where all is soldered to the motherboard. If they can (but i think that this is more an intel choice), it will be cool to have non soldered cpu too. My other wishes : more choice about the screen (FHD 120hz, or 3k or 4k ...), a better sound system and backplate, bottomcover that is more efficient to bring fresh air to the component like those of alienware or MSI GT72. If they can also offer some GPU upgrade kit for their last year model with bios/vbios support, i will be in Paradise... (but i think i'm dreaming). And like others, the price must remain competitive ... (there is an economical crisis in France)
  8. I think that the laptop had some difficulties to detect the correct speed/value of your ram during post.
  9. I never had the shutdown issue when asking for a reboot. The sleep mode issue is driver related. (your laptop start and reload the system image but you got only a blackscreen because the video driver is not initiate). Maybe try the 80.04.29.00.01 vbios or ask svl7 for the "MSI 680m - 80.04.33.00.24_'OCedition'_revised_01.
  10. I am afraid that this is a vision of the future ... a laptop that cannot be upgraded anymore.
  11. Yes, they will be mxm 3, i think that they will be usable in alienware 18 r3, but you need to mod the .inf to install the driver. When they will come to ebay, you will find them @1000$/1100$ the first weeks and 800$ after couple of months
  12. Great news that the card run without mod...
  13. Wait to see if prema can make 980m works with your P370sm ...
  14. even higher Generic VGA video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-4860HQ Processor,ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. G751JY seem that oc the memory too high is not a good idea
  15. Hum ... only thing i note, is the issue with the illuminated keyboard, Gtx780 is not properly recognized, but that is normal because the P170SM-A only support 880m and now 980m. But by modding the driver (.inf) i will be able to make the 780m works. I flash back to P170SM bios ...
  16. Because P170SM-A is just a new "marketing" version of the P170SM, i tried to flash my P170SM with a P170SM-A bios It works and the laptop post, but the 780m is not properly recognised anymore (need to mod the .inf to install driver). The keyboard is not illuminated anymore and i think that it is related to hotkey software. Do you know if illuminated keyboard need a new version of hotkey to work with those new bios? got hotkey 2.34.50
  17. "That's like buying a Bugatti Veyron and driving it on 25mph speed limit country roads" I drive safely The screen resolution is another debate. I had to oc my 780m to properly run crysis 3 and other title at FHD. 780m is a good card but it's not a Bugatti Veyron, at stock speed this card is on par with a desktop 660Ti. Your monitor is really great, but i spent too much money on my computer, and if i make an attempt to buy this screen, my wife will gonna cut my balls;) Gaming on that screen must be amazing
  18. No,the OCedition allow to bypass the +135mhz limit. To go over 1Ghz, you need this vbios MSI 680m - 80.04.33.00.24_'OCedition'_revised_02 - OV 1000v.zip (52.6 KB, 198 views) MSI 680m - 80.04.33.00.24_'OCedition'_revised_02 - OV 1025v.zip (52.6 KB, 204 views) Overclocking is not a science, i can't guarantee the frequencies you will be able to reach.

  20. On a P150HM, only MSI 80.04.33.00.24 and Clevo 80.04.29.00.01 vbios are compatible.
  21. With the 2960xm and the GTX680M at 1006 Mhz core /2400 Mhz mémory/ overvolted 1.0v, i never succeed to stabilize an oc on the cpu, but i tried just a couple of days. I have given up really fast because i saw the power consumption above 230W. I have also try a prema bios that help the cpu running longer on turbo mode, but it was also a fail. I haven't got any value to communicate, because: - 1 in my laptop, the attempt of cpu overclocking was a total failure -2 The test was done last year 03/2013 and i don't have this laptop anymore.
  22. Don't know if this is just rumor but notebookcheck says that the GTX980M will be announced the first of october: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M - NotebookCheck.net Tech Models tested on 3Dmark Clevo P370SM-A (980m SLI/ 980m/ 970m SLI/ 970m ) Generic VGA video card benchmark result - Intel® Core i7-4940MX CPU @ 3.10GHz,Notebook P370SM-A Clevo P150SM-A (980m/970m) Generic VGA video card benchmark result - Intel® Core i7-4940MX CPU @ 3.10GHz,Notebook P15SM-A/SM1-A Clevo P170SM-A (980m/970m) Generic VGA video card benchmark result - Intel® Core i7-4940MX CPU @ 3.10GHz,Notebook P17SM-A Clevo P650SE (970m) Generic VGA video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7,Notebook P650SE A new slim 15 inch model by Clevo Clevo P750ZM ? 24. "When you say your tests resulted in power failure - what exactly do you mean, how did it manifest itself? I also have 2960XM and with my current GTX 675M on default frequencies I was able to get CPU multipliers to x45 using XTU and 170HM's BIOS, without any overheating, failures or other noticeable consequences." My first Cpu was a 2860QM. With the help of a prema modded bios, this cpu was capable of being longer in Turbo mode, resulting on near performance of a 2960XM stock (but without the same power consumption). I can run the GTX680M at 1006 Mhz core and 2400Mhz memory ov 1.0v without issue with an asus 230w PSU. Total power consumption was near 220W in some case. Then i bought a 2960XM to make some test and see if it worth the value for money vs a 2860QM... and it was a big disappointment. At stock speed, 2960XM was on par with the 2860QM with prema modded bios. And if i overclock the 2960xm and the GTX680M at the same time, the laptop goes in security shutdown. This two components OC together, drained too much power. But, maybe it was the power circuitry of my motherboard that have a lower tolerance than yours. http://forum.techinferno.com/clevo/1924-p150hm-gtx680m-yes-we-can-11.html#post70475 Like you can see in my review of the 2960Xm, i was only able to run benchmark, and i conclude that running an OC 2960XM with an OC 680m was impossible (security shutdown under crysis 3). But you will be able to run your 2960XM stock with the GTX680M oc without problem and it will give you an incredible boost in comparaison with your actual 675m. Just a new for all P150HM owner, i just realize that the battery of the P170SM are the same as P150HM model, so if your battery begin to be tired, you can buy a P170sm battery in replacement.
