  1. Using 2xMolex for the barrel plug is just for safety. Should also work with one plug!
  2. For Windows 10 you shouldn't use the EFI mod, only using the latest Nvidia driver should solve the problem. @LeoTP Windows 8.1 here:
  3. 1. Your card doesn't need 700W, that are the power specs for a whole PC system! 2. The card will not use more than 90W on the barrel plug since it is limited to draw max. 75W from the PCIe slot. 3. All the other power comes from the PCIe power plugs (6/8-Pin) The plug I linked will only help if your plug isn't sitting tight in the plug. Are you using one or two molex conenctions to feed the barrel plug?
  4. Let's continue here: https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/6543-guide-making-a-molex-to-barrel-adapter/&page=3#comment-137372
  5. @kblack21 Let's talk here, without spaming the wrong thread. I am using this barrel plug and it's works very well. Plug and cable are rated to carry 120W: http://www.reichelt.de/DC-AKS-7525/3/index.html?&ACTION=3&LA=446&ARTICLE=150126&artnr=DC+AKS+7525&SEARCH=dc+aks+7525
  6. Some people reported they got lucky with the latest driver in Windows 10. Maybe you will have to disable the dGPU first. Nevertheless... can you monitor the GPU stats during gaming liek with GPU-Z or MSI Afterburner. Would be interessting if your GPU hits any limit or can't reach full load.
  7. Using the eGPU on the iMac display or external display?
  8. I am using a 2m Apple TB cable myself. Maybe your barrel plug doesn't "sit" right?
  9. Best would be soldering. 2nd best is the barrel plug with screw terminals. Combine that with a 2xMolex -> 6-Pin PCIe adapter (because they are common and you don't want to damage cables on your PSU, that is why you use an adapter), cut off the 6-Pin plug and use the remaining Molex plugs with their cables.
  10. @Verizon I was jsut typing a loooong answer but lost everything because your post got moved. Short version: - Use at least 2xMolex plugs - try not to use riser cables at all or jut get unpowered but high quality risers (Li-Heat x16 pcie riser or from moddiy.com like this) - barrel plug is better than powered riser (can be done with soldering or barrel plugs with screw terminal without soldering)
  11. @LeoTP What MB do you have exactly? Is it with a dGPU (Nvidia or AMD) inside as well? Code 45 sounds to me like a driver issue. Have you installed the latest bootcamp driver package?
  12. @iddinmx Well Windows should work with Optimus now as well. Didn't test it myself, but somem people confirmed it: https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/9289-optimus-now-works-in-win10-using-36175-driver/
  13. Awesome! I really need to test that (Optimus in Windows 10) myself
  14. @willex Please download the "Disable Monitor" App from github and disable the MacBook display. Without the internal display performance should be good and lags/stutters should be gone.
  15. @razvani Keep in mind that nobody confirmed it working for Adobe software.
  16. @LeoTP Which device has code 45? The monitor or the Intel Graphics? @iddinmx Glad it works! Alternative GPUs are a special kind in OSX. Is there a chance you could test in Windows? The GPU will work with that cooling, but there might be throttling if the GPU hits 80°C.
  17. @LeoTP Can you try and install the latest Intel Graphics driver?
  18. Hi, first guess would be the powered riser, can you test it with another one? Or even better eliminate the riser and put the GPU drectly into the AKiTiO and power it with a modded barrel plug?!
  19. http://www.moddiy.com/products/Premium-Gold-Plated-16x-PCI%252dE-Extension-Shielded-Cable-Riser-%2819cm%29.html
  20. Ah sweet! The "DisableMonitor" app from github really made it work, by disabling the internal screen. Learned sth new today
  21. Benchmarks are running fine for me, but I must admit in OSX the desktop performance is indeed a bit sluggish… huh.
