Really, they require that on desktops with more than 2x SLI? What kind of code? So, does this mean the money-grabbing crooks at NGREEDIA are going to license SLI technology now also, or is the code free?

No. What it means is Nvidia is no longer supporting sli because most game makers don't want to. And since it's not a direct 100 percent increase in using 2 cards they feel it's becoming a waste of time, but since there are still enthusiast that exist. They decided to not fully drop it all together. Thus the Nvidia Enthusiast Key website. Which of course is not up and running yet.

  2. Lets hope....If they decide to make any more sli notebooks that they do not require a code to unlock sli. Like they are doing with the desktop variant. (Using more than 2 cards(1080/1070) in sli requires a code now)

  3. I think you misunderstand what king of kings means so i'll give a brief explanation.

The kings of over clocking are the guys and gals who rank at the top of over clocking period. And the ones who rank at the tops in their class of parts. And it filters down from there. There are a handful of kings running around in our world and you should know exactly who they are, but there can be only one at the very top. And that is the guy or gal who benches every thing regardless of cost or what that part may hold. The guy or gal who will bench a netbook or a bga "turd" book for .05 points. Will spend many long hours on benching every part that comes their way. Have more than a few records under their belt and going up against the very best in this field. This is how i came up with King of Kings. Because as of today's date that is the title I hold. And this was not something that started a few weeks ago. This started back in 2009 with laptops. I'm not taking anything away from the other king benchers because that's not how i operate. And win lose or draw i post benchmarks. Not the ones I can only beat. And besides that, it's pretty well known already. And there is nothing wrong with competition nor losing, that is just the way of the world. It's more about how you handle losing that defines you.

    Hello,

Newbie on this forum, I'm interested in the overclocking (above the +135MHZ that I can do basically) of my 970m 6GB on my GT72.

I have read a bit on the web about it and it looks a big secret this Maxwell Overclocking. I mean that usually, it is easy and free to find information on how to do overclocking (I have done a lot of overclocking on Desktop PC) over the web.

Since 2 or 3 days I'm looking for information about overclocking my 970m 6Gb and I found out that the only places where there is information, I need to be a Pro-active member or people are asking me for money (!) ...there is a guy Svet on some MSI forum who is asking for money to do the modification on your laptop !!! Never saw this before...

Therefore, I have some questions :

    1) Is this so called overclocking (above the base overclocking - I mean  an overclocking that would permit me to push the Vcore and to go above the +135MHZ base oveclocking on the core) really exist ? It looks like if I read this thread ;)

    2) If it exists, why so much "business" or "secrecy" around it ?

    3) If overclocking possible on my 970m, can somebody explain me shortly what is needed ? Driver modification ? Bios modification ?

    Hope my questions are OK.

thanks a lot for any help about this

@Klem Has pretty much taken over catering to the masses While @Prema also has mods listed for most cards, so no real cloak and dagger there. You only need to make 5 real post and you too can get a vbios mod already ready for flashing.

  5. That is exactly why I do not sit around and complain about parts and what they can or can't do. Or What is holding me back this and that. I take the hand im dealt and work with it. Some days you get better parts than others while other days you do not. You just keep pushing forward.

  6. Totally agree. When you have a high end desktop, a gaming laptop is more of a addon at that point. And when im travelling i don't really have time to be gaming like that. So almost any laptop will do as long as it's quick. i use a macbook pro dual boot with i7 and a ssd/ dell business class laptop with 940xm and dual ssd's. My clevo stays home for the most part and doubles as a main machine when im benching desktop parts. And vice versa.

So the bga thing really doesn't bother me either. I guess if that's all i could afford or had space for, then you either make do or do without. Glad im not at that point where that is even an option right now. :)
