What to do with dying/dead MXM GPUs ?
MasterInTheUniverse replied to Kladmajster's topic in General Notebook Discussions
sorry I cant read the entire topic because I am driving LOL. however, reflow and reballing in extreme cases or in the most of cases, remove all plastic part from vga, remove all thermal pound, clean the dirt parts with alcool 90%, build a small raised structure with aluminum foil where to lay the card. Put it in the oven. 200 celsius degrees for 10 minutes. Wait 2h for cooling....et voila! -
Maxwell GM204: GTX980M / GTX970M / GTX965M
MasterInTheUniverse replied to a topic in General Notebook Discussions
I am hoping in GTX 970M SLI....SBAVVVV -
I hope this vga will be released. Simply I have Clevo P170EM with 3820QM and 8970M/M290X. If M295X will be release, I can obtain about 50% more of power without changing the entire laptop with new cpu, gpus etc... I can mantain the same configuration, that is mostly enough for recently games, with a new vga.
-
Any news about release? For the moment only the specs are known I think this vga needs an official thread
-
I suppose M295X runs at least 50% faster than M290X... looking at that specs...

PREMA DOCET

exactly. I had GTX 675MX and @ def is about 36% more slower than a 8970M (the vga of mine now) according to the data, instead the GTX 680M is about 24% faster than GTX 675MX

I know, at the moment there are no VBIOS for GTX 7XX on Clevo P170HM-EM

Hi, I have decided to open this thread to collect your opinions about these graphic cards. Both cards seems to have mature drivers, and after many months by their release, I would to listen the considerations of the owners. GTX 680M is a Kepler GK104 with 719mhz on clock and 3600mhz effective on vram. It is possible to find it on web around 400-420€ HD8970M is substantially an overclocked rebrand of HD7970M with 900Mhz on clock and 5000mhz effective on vram. It is possible to find it around the same price of GTX 680M According to Notebookcheck review (with driver chronologically different) the AMD video card is faster around 10-12% tha Nvidia video card. Do you agree? I would to know your bench and your fps and configuration in game. For example I have my vga @ def because I must flash the vbios to unlock the power limit to overclock, and with a 3630QM on 3dm11 i get P7250 score. Thank you to everyone :tennis::tennis:

CCC doesn't see an AMD graphic card
MasterInTheUniverse replied to MasterInTheUniverse's topic in Clevo
I can't Play anithing. For The CCC i solved formatting again.... but I can't play anything. for example the wor of the roses (on steam) doesn't launch -
I installed my new SSD 480GB. All ok until the installation of the video driver. The Catalyst Control Center does not see my graphics card and will not open. It tells me it does not detect any component of AMD graphics on the computer. Besides, if I open gpu-z and programs that relate to the video card, my pc goes into freeze. I have 8970M on Clevo P170EM driver Installed ccc mobility for win 7 64 bit 13.12 by AMD website

Bios for HD8970M / R9 M290X on P-1XXEM
MasterInTheUniverse replied to MasterInTheUniverse's topic in Clevo
ok, it's official, I can not reap the benefits of overclocking...it' like if I didn't overclock.... the fps on BF4 are the same @ 900/1250 and 1200/1250, as the 3dm11 and unigine heaven too... HOWEVER great card on BF4 flies! -

Bios for HD8970M / R9 M290X on P-1XXEM
MasterInTheUniverse replied to MasterInTheUniverse's topic in Clevo
Prema helped me and I flashed the vbios...the same this vbios can't be read by gpu-z.... however with overvolt in sapphire trixx I can reach very good clock on gpu (for the momento 1150 mhz) but the clock of ram is very lock... I cant improve 50mhz (1300MHZ ) either that it causes freeze. moreover the clock of the ram (1250mhz) is a bottleneck that doesn't let me enjoy the benefits of overclock on gpu clock. Infact on 3dm11 @def the score is p7250 points , with gpu overclocked only a little more.... does a vbios "oc mode" exist? -
