No, it was happening on every game I tried, but it occurred specially quick in GPU intensive games like COD4. I "solved" it underclocking both GPU and memory frequencies to 25% below maximum. Now I can play COD4 with all configs at the top for hours.

I think it might have something to do with the PCIe x8 speed on the LUB adapter... I just hope that the GPU can work on full speed when I migrate it from the Y510P to a gaming rig!

Try again but this time (Download) Open and Run IdeaFAN first,  and manually start the FAN. After this, try using your normal GPU and Memory settings/clocks.

I havent seen which one of these cables do not work, can you have a look at this one if it was mentioned by others. (Kinda lazy to re-read the thread and you might recognise it by the name if it was tested as uncompatible.)

    Thanks in advance

Cable arrived. I attached some pictures (box and cable) . I tested it and it works perfectly!

P.S.: This is the 25cm version.

I bought that one, just waiting for it to arrive, I'll let you know if it works or not.

EDIT: I actually bought the 25cm version. Same brand though. I will post after I test it.

I intend to buy either a Vega or the Radeon 580. Might take a few weeks, but I'll let you guys know how I've fared once I've bought and installed the card.

I have a Radeon RX 580. I will post the result as soon as I receive the adapter.

The cable expansion from NGFF supports only PCI x1. The Ultrabay connector supports PCI x8.

Thanks for the information because I wasn't sure about that. The Ultrabay is the definite way to go, no doubt on that.

If I'm not mistaken, your best bet would be to get the one with NGFF M.2 to achieve PCIe x4 connection/transfer data rate.

Pls use the delay switches on your EXP GDC adapter to hide it from the BIOS as otherwise the BIOS initializes an unstable state. That will overcome your ACPI_BIOS_ERROR.  As mentioned in https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/topic/8947-mpcieec-egpu-troubleshooting-steps/

The delay switches don't seem to work at all. I have the EXP GDC v8.3 <-- I've "read"  somewhere in the forums about that version being the cheapest, which means is missing a few connections here and there, I think is "fixable" tho.

  8. Hello @Tech Inferno Fan

Thank you for developing such a great piece of software. I've seen many people achieveing their goals thanks to it.

I bought your software yesterday hoping I was going to be able to use my Lenovo G505S (A8 AMD w/ single Radeon HD 8550G) with both the internal gpu and the eGPU adapter (EXP GDC v8) running at the same time because I need to use my multimonitor setup not only to play but to work as well, which I can do without the egpu plugged ofc.

So after I booted up my eGPU and turned my laptop on, all the graphical output was directed to the eGPU as if it was the only GPU available/detected. After the BIOS screen, an immediate crash regarding ACPI_BIOS_ERROR. Did a bit of research, tried changing lots of options to no available. Wouldn't work. Still the same error everytime.

My BIOS has Whitelist removed, even the Advanced Menu unlocked.  But the software wouldn't work as intended (because of the BIOS itself it seems) so I unplugged the eGPU, purchased and installed your software and tried again. Same result, every time I plug my eGPU it shows as if the eGPU now becomes the dGPU according to diy egpu setup 1.3 (doesn't detect the internal gpu) and if I tried to boot into Windows, it would just crash again. I was unable to turn it into a hybrid graphics mode.

My research didn't give good results:logik:

Sad it didn't work for me. My only alternative is using coreboot bios, but then I wouldn't need diy egpu setup because I have tested it.

  9. Hey @gerald

I've noticed you couldn't fund your project and that's sad, I know many would have wanted to buy this adapter.

Is there any way you could still sell these? I'm interested.

    Thanks!

  10. I bought the Lenovo Y410p because we can change the cd rom to a graphics card or the battery either a HDD instead ,but I don't know where can we buy a graphics ultrabay for Y410p,where can I find it?

If what you want is to add a second HDD or SSD, I bought this one for my Y410p: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FWOR638 the only negative thing I found was that it didn't come with a faceplate, so you would have to remove the DVD-ROM faceplate and install it on the caddy.

Else If what you want is to add another graphics card, try reading this forum thread> http://forum.techinferno.com/lenovo-ibm/6151-where-can-we-buy-ultrabay-y410p.html so we don't end up creating it all over again.

    Hope this helps!
