  1. To gain mPCIe eGPU detection, pls work through http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/11393-mpcie-egpu-troubleshooting-steps.html#post149873
  2. Worth noting that @Doink] also applied the pin22 isolation with his EXP GDC Beast (mPCIe) which too solved issues with booting to a black screen and with failed eGPU detection: http://forum.techinferno.com/implementation-guides-pc/11428-15-asus-n53sn-r9_390x%404gbps-mpcie2-exp-gdc-beast-win10-%5Bdoink%5D.html#post150176
  3. It tells you. Change to MBR mode: Chainloader->mode.MBR then select Chainloader->Test Run to test it.
  4. Pls check your INBOX. Optimus gains two features: x1 pcie compression accelerating (mostly) DX9 apps 30-300% and an accelerated internal LCD mode. If you have a 5742G like you linked at http://forum.techinferno.com/implementation-guides-pc/6792-15-acer-aspire-5742g-gtx660ti%402gbps-c-mpcie1-pe4c-1-2-win8-1-%5Bniskon%5D.html#post92801 then you cannot have an accelerated internal LCD mode because the LCD isn't wired to the iGPU. You can however enable the iGPU to gain the x1 PCIe compression. As mentioned, Win8.1 enables all the desirable NVidia driver features. Win10 has some that are broken.
  5. Pls refer to http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2129-diy-egpu-troubleshooting-faq.html . Prefer 'family and friends' Paypal option but will leave it to you if comfortable doing that. Win8.1 is currently a better eGPU platform. Win10 isn't activating NVidia Optimus features unless rollback to a Win8.1 driver 350.12: http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/10563-egpu-window-10-optimus-mode-problem.html

  8. Undervolt by using lower multiplier + BCLK overclock Consider narrowing Intel's wide overvolting for stability to improve on your seen performance and noticably lower temps. temps/TDP increases exponentially with increased multiplier. eg: use 1 lower multiplier (x38) along with a 4.5-5% BCLK (100->105Mhz) overclock using XTU. That would get you just under 4Ghz 4-core. Though that requires some expertise to pull off: (1) unlocking the flash descriptor using a pinmod (2) preparing a modifed ME FW and flashing it to allow BCLK overclocking. @timohour covers this topic on the opening post.

  11. Biggest issue there is Quadro and Geforce won't work together. Since it appears you want the Geforce to work, you'll need to uninstall the Quadro driver and disable the dGPU. Pls continue via email as this is specific system troubleshooting.
  12. Please obtain Setup 1.30 to hard allocate your eGPU to the large memory area created by the DSDT override. In addition, the software can force your EC slot to Gen1 (2.5Gbps) speed needed to run reliably with your PE4H 2.4.

  15. We've had a stack of recurring questions from with problems getting a mPCIe eGPU working. This includes GPU-Z not reporting no clock details, error 10/43 or even not being detected at all. Overall it's more troublesome getting mPCIe working than say expresscard or Thunderbolt. Here's some common problems and some troubleshooting steps to correct them. Getting a black bootup screen, resolving error 10/43 or ACPI_BIOS_ERROR win bootup messages Here the BIOS doesn't know what to do when it sees an eGPU. So the solution is to not let the BIOS see it. Do that by setting the delays on the eGPU adapter (CTD/PTD - EXP GDC or CLKRUN/PERST# on PE4L/PE4C). Boot with eGPU adapter in the wifi slot into Setup 1.30 or Windows. Is the eGPU detected? I'll add that should error 43 continue AND you have a NVidia dGPU as well as NVidia eGPU then it's likely because of having the mobile NVidia and desktop NVidia drivers loaded simultaneously. Proceed to uninstall ALL your NVidia drivers, use "DDU" to clean NVidia registry entries and do a 'clean' install of the latest NVidia desktop driver. mPCIe port that hosted the wifi card disappears when connecting an eGPU in it's place Use the Setup 1.30 PCIe Ports->enable to enable the missing port. eGPU does not get detected Overcome mPCIe whitelisting by booting with the wifi card and then hotswapping in the eGPU. That way the BIOS will enable the mPCIe port to work. 1. Boot with wifi card into Windows, sleep system, swap wifi card for mPCIe eGPU adapter and ensure eGPU is powered on, resume system. Do a device manager scan in Windows. Is the eGPU detected? 2. Boot with wifi card into Setup 1.30. *carefully* hotplug the eGPU adapter in place of wifi card. Hit F5 to rescan the PCIe bus. Is the eGPU detected? If this enables detection then avoid this tedious hotswapping by seeking a unwhitelisted modified BIOS for your system. eGPU still not detected - set the PSU to be permanently on The latest EXP GDC and BPlus eGPU adapters try to manage the PSU to only power on after they detect a signal. This can cause a race condition where the eGPU isn't ready to go when the CLKRUN signal is asserted. Avoid this by jumpering the PSU so it's permanently on rather than being managed. Depending on the PSU you are using refer to the following doco on how to do that: http://forum.techinferno.com/enclosures-adapters/8441-%5Bguide%5D-switching-atx-psu-using-paperclip-trick-swex.html http://forum.techinferno.com/enclosures-adapters/9426-220w-dell-da-2-ac-adapter-discussion.html eGPU still not detected - a non-standard mPCIe implementation by your vendor? PERST# mPCIe pin 22 may need to be isolated due to a non-standard implementation by your notebook vendor: http://forum.techinferno.com/enclosures-adapters/10812-pe4x-series-understanding-clkreq-perst-delay.html#post142689 eGPU still not detected - faulty hardware? If you still don't get detection then test the video card and eGPU adapter in another machine to confirm neither is faulty. NVidia driver stops responding EXP GDC, PE4H 2.4 and PE4L 1.5 all use a socketted cable and therefore are not true Gen2 compatible device. This error indicates there was transmissions errors. The solution is either to get a better Gen2-compliant eGPU adapter such as PE4C V3.0 or PE4L 2.1b (both with soldered cable), or downgrade your link from Gen2 to Gen1 using BIOS options or Setup 1.30. Other troubleshooting help resources? See DIY eGPU Troubleshooting FAQ.
  16. Yes, Setup 1.30 can hard allocate your eGPU into the large memory area created by your DSDT override. In addition you may need Setup 1.30 to downgrade your link to Gen1 since there's been lots of reports of the EXP GDC not Gen2 reliable.
  17. Try a couple of things to get eGPU detection: 1. 3. Set the CTD/PTD delays on the eGPU adapter. Boot with eGPU adapter in wifi slot into Setup 1.30/Windows. Is the eGPU detected? If not, then there is one other thing that can be done. Jumper the PSU so it's permanently on. Depending on the PSU you are using refer to the following doco on how to do that. What that does is prevent a race condition ensuring the eGPU is powered and ready to go when the mPCIe CLKRUN signal starts. http://forum.techinferno.com/enclosures-adapters/8441-%5Bguide%5D-switching-atx-psu-using-paperclip-trick-swex.html http://forum.techinferno.com/enclosures-adapters/9426-220w-dell-da-2-ac-adapter-discussion.html If you still don't get detection then test the video card and eGPU adapter in another machine to confirm neither is faulty.
  18. Surprisingly, the 15W Haswell ULVs give CPU benchmark results near the 35W i5-330xMs. Consider a entry level [email protected] performs pretty much onpar to a [email protected] https://cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-4300U+%40+1.90GHz&id=2054 A [email protected] performs pretty much the same as a [email protected] if can unlock an extra +200Mhz from say the i7-4600U then you'd be outperforming a i5-3360M/i5-3380M. Only issue would be if you start putting both the iGPU and CPU under load. Then those 15W Haswell CPUs would start throttling one or the other depending on your iGPU/CPU power balance preference in say Throttlestop. Though I haven't played much with TDP settings on those CPUs as haven't had a need to. Maybe open up their TDP using latitude UEFI vars to eliminate the iGPU/CPU power balance throttling? EDIT: might be that the i7-4600M has unlockable bins. Not finding if the i7-4600U does too. If you happen to go down that path then consider 0.0, "Dufus", was able to get fully unlocked multis by removing microcode updates on a i7-4600M and i7-4700MQ: http://hwbot.org/news/12230_interview_with_0_0_overclocking_locked_mobile_cpus/
  19. Best bet for unlockable turbo bins would be a i7-3520M. I believe Haswell dual-core i7s can have +200Mhz turbo bins unlocked. Not sure if SB ones can too. For something smaller than a E6430 I'd suggest look at a E6430s over the E6330. It's pretty much the same chassis as a E6330 but sports a thin bezel allowing a 14" LCD to fit. AFAIK it's only single-channel LVDS so can't go beyond 1366x768. E6430s was noticably smaller and lighter when I compared it against my E6440 though it has a 6-cell that protrudes from the back. The 6-cell wasn't compatible with the E6430/E6440. The 3-cell fits flush, plus there's an option for a modular bay battery. Review Dell Latitude E6430s Notebook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews Of course there's also a 12.5" HP 2570P which can take a quad-core socketted CPU. That's if the 12.5" is workable for you. Though no had no UEFI vars or modded bios to unlock turbo bins or TDP there. You might even want to scout out for a 14" Dell E7440 with i7 CPU. It certainly thinner/lighter than the SB series, has a FHD option but no optical drive or expresscard slot. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Dell-Latitude-E7440-Notebook.103185.0.html 14" Dell E5440 being a good compromise. FHD LCD option, optical drive, expresscard slot but no socketted CPU. Then there's the E6440 with the socketted CPU. I'm currently using a E5540 as my main machine. 15.6" FHD, mSATA SSD, 1TB HDD, optical drive, expresscard slot, i5 ULV. Does the job nicely until some 14-15" FHD TB3 machine replaces it.

  21. Yes, eGPU Setup 1.20 is used for this Macbook. @w4vz just updated his opening post with details for the first MBR Win10 eGPU implementation on this system using Setup 1.20.
  22. Something that has been done many times with the following threads in the Enclosures and Adapters section giving a practical explanation: http://forum.techinferno.com/enclosures-adapters/10090-visual-guide-opening-akitio-thunder-2-pcie-box-powering-via-barrel-plug.html http://forum.techinferno.com/enclosures-adapters/8317-%5Bguide%5D-making-molex-barrel-adapter.html
  23. As mentioned, it would be helpful for other owners of this system if you could detail your whole configuration and the exact steps you used along with some pics as an Implementation report at Implementation Guides - Apple . Then those owners can confidentally follow your pioneering work in getting it all going.
  24. I create and distribute egpu setup 1.30 at http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2123-diy-egpu-setup-1-30-previously-setup-1-x.html . There are many mbr/boot camp egpu implementations on this system using this software. See the MBR implementations linked at http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/6578-implementations-hub-tb-ec-mpcie.html#Thunderbolt for details. We've had 100% success in overcoming error 12 that way.
  25. Nice. As we have no mbr implementation details for that system at http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/6578-implementations-hub-tb-ec-mpcie.html#Thunderbolt did you want to post an implementation report to help others ? Pertinent detail being whether it was all plug and play or if you needed specific steps in Setup 1.30 (or anything else) to overcome error 12.
