  1. Hey, I'm WingoWinston. I'm an avid laptop supporter. I currently own a P150EM (Eurocom) laptop. My first laptop was a Compaq SLT/286 I got it when I was around 9 years old. I quite fondly remember playing a myriad of DOS games on it. dosgames.com became my best friend. I then got an NEC.. don't remember the model name, just remember it being a 386. That bad boy had Windows 3.11 I remember installing Windows 95 on it later on via 13 floppy disks. A number of other in between... oh... so many. They made me the man I am today. I still have an old 1GB Hard drive laying around somewhere. I came here looking for whatever I could get my hands on to improve the performance of my 7970m and laptop in general. Definitely liking the community from what I see so far and I think I may just stick around.
  2. I am INCREDIBLY excited. I remember playing The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and since then I've been hooked. Of course having sex with red headed witches was super appealing to a 15 something year old... still is now lol. The witcher 2 blew me away too. I love the combat (although it could still use improvement). It seems like they are fixing that in this game. The open world just gives me shivers. I hope my rig will still be able to handle the game. I wouldn't want to experience the game in anything less than medium setting on 1080p.
  3. Quite a few multiplayer games for PC are not splitscreen. Your best option is probably to get an emulator like Project64 and play some retro splitscreen games. I play Mario Party with my friends once a week. The other cool thing is that you can set up any controller (more or less) on the emulator as well. I have four xbox 360 controllers rigged up and a large flat screen. It is the best 64 experience I've ever had.
  4. I use/unuse FPS limits all the time with emulators. Sometimes with the PSX emulaors the frame limit is not set and the game runs at >400FPS making the game unplayable. Although you can power level like crazy. Same thing with other emulators,I turn the limiter on to enable... regular gameplay and off for skipping through annoying parts/power playing.
  5. I went through this recently myself. While you must also enable the option in your BIOS you must also make sure you set the PK, KEK, DB, and DBX. keys. Only then will SecureBoot be fully enabled. You may have a factory default option which is just fine. You can later on (or before doing this) check in powershell if you indeed have SecureBoot with the "Confirm-SecureBootUEFI" command and "Get-SecureBootPolicy" to see if you have a SecureBoot Policy,
  6. I'd say it is a waste on that machine, but it will definitely improve performance. It would be an excellent preemptive purchase though if you ever plan on purchasing another computer later on.
  7. The SSD will help in loading the same faster that's really all there is to it. So yes... you would be able to join a fight quicker. The samsung 840 Pro is my recommendation 97000 Iops is damned fast (that's for the 128GB, faster read and writes with the higher capacity models). I ran the beta pretty fluently with 7970m. The 680m out performs the 7970m so that would be my recommendation.
