  1. @Tech Inferno Fan as promised (maximum battery), P.s. I'm able to confirm that eGpu is hotplug in windows 8.1 with UEFI. 2. Oh well, so we are stuck for good. Thanks @donovan6000 for the kind reply
  3. I got a brand new 3840qm OEM (for a good price), sadly not a very efficient one (only x33, veeeery sad face here).
  4. Maybe it's strange, but very useful if I want to switch fast from loudly (fans) "gaming egpu-mode" to silent "working igpu mode".
  5. Plug and play on Win 7 and (seems) Win 8 UEFI. By the way, the first post is the 2570p Bible. Read it NOW!
  6. Very sweet! It should be a straight swap (but right now it's tested only with pre-F.50 bios, I think). Note that some heat handling could be required. Please read the first post for more info. It's the same (but EC is more plug and play).
  7. My bad, I was too tired yesterday My setup is an external LCD with a double connection: - eGpu on Hdmi port - iGpu on DisplayPort Now, usually I left both cables attached, therefore both iGpu and eGpu works (so, windows finds out two "different" external monitors in the manager). Is this a problem? Or unplugging the iGpu link before POST (disabling the iGpu) would be better? Thanks Tech Inferno Fan.
  8. Ops, was EC, but obviously I mean the DP from the dock station. But it's a problem to keep both cables attached, selecting only the direct link on the graphic card? In Windows I can see two different "monitors" by that.
  9. Hello, I have a little curiosity to ask: the eGPU link works wiring the external LCD to the graphic card (via DisplayPort in my case), or directly via the expression card link only (from Optimus, I guess). Will the second option introducing latency, or it's the same?
  10. This is vey interesting. Can't we make an issue on Github? https://github.com/donovan6000/Universal-IFR-Extractor
  11. Hello Here is my little creative DIY case project, consisting of an egpu-case assembled from an old broken samsung printer. Maybe it's not the most portable solution but surely the most economic (for free!) and funny to build (furthermore I don't play games on the road, and my gtx660 is very large). Here the original printer: Opening (video here: ) Disassembly completed: Fitting everything inside: Some cables management on the sides_ Here we go! Final look with the docking station on top: The air flow is not ideal but pretty much adeguate on idle and at surfing and working time (very silent, too). For gaming and intensive work, as bonus, I can simply open the printer lid:
  12. Hello Here is my little creative DIY case project: http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2109-diy-egpu-experiences-%5Bversion-2-0%5D-post104801.html#post104801 So here my final setup: Laptop Mode (for mobile): Hp 2570p with: - OS Win 7 Pro x64 (Win 8.1 Pro x64 in future) - CPU i5-3320m 2.6Ghz (i7-3820qm 2.7Ghz in future) - HD1 128GB+128GB RAID0 Samsung 830 Pro SSDs - RAM 16GB DDR3 1600 CL9 ------------------------------------------------ Desktop Mode (for working): HP 2570p Dock Station with: - POWER 90W Adapter - DISPLAYPORT Dell U2412m IPS 1920x1200px - USB-HD2 Western digital 1TB - USB Keyboard Logitech Comfort K290 - USB Wireless Mouse Logitech T400 - USB Tv Digital Receiver\Recorder Cinergy - AUDIO Speakers (Usb powered) ------------------------------------------------- Power Mode (for gaming): DIY eGpu Clousure with: - GPU PE4L 2.1b Geforce GTX660 (with fans disabled) - DVI Dell U2412m IPS 1920x1200px - FAN Silent big Fan to graphic card - PSU 500W Silent (fanless in future) - USB on PE4L (nothing for now... maybe an SD card reader embedded in the case?)
  13. By the way @Hrvoje Gregur it seems that enabling UEFI-GPT fixes error 12 on windows 8/8.1. @see http://forum.techinferno.com/diy-e-gpu-projects/2109-diy-egpu-experiences-%5Bversion-2-0%5D-345.html#post102643
  14. Yeah, I'll change the CPU soon (I love you "right of withdrawal"
  15. Hi, I've just made a test using my 7000rpm fan to establish the relation between temps and clock limit (don't try this at home ). Looks like even though a very strong air flow bumps up to a cover-less 2570p, the results with the clocks are the same and the temps are still pretty high. So the variables here are mainly "Cpu efficiency" and (probably) poor heatsink capacity. x32 FAN MODE 1,1459 36,3W 69grad x33 FAN MODE XXXX > 32 x34 FAN MODE XXXX > 32
  16. It depends. On hp 2570p the egpu is plug and play on Windows 7 only, and give a code12 on windows 8.1
  17. @Jefferson92 try this: in your Bios you must go to the boot page, and check your SSD as primary boot device.
