1. I don't know much about nvflash, I've only flashed my GPU twice, I simply followed the instructions that are linked in the first post of this thread, here's the link to the instructions: http://forum.techinferno.com/nvidia-video-cards/2166-%5Bguide%5D-nvidia-vbios-flashing.html#post28018 If that doesn't work after following them closely then post back here and maybe someone else can help you out.
2. Ah, have a go using NVidia Inspector instead (right click, "Run as Administrator"). Afterburner doesn't allow for all the possible parameters to be changed.
3. Well, I guess you're saying that the 880M is voltage adjustable like that from NVidia, although you are going round the houses! ;-) And are you insinuating that they're copying/stealing svl7's work? Although I'm pretty sure they'd be able to create them themselves seeing as they design the GPUs! BAH, it's all nonsense anyway because even if it is voltage adjustable straight from NVidia for better overclocking then it throttles anyway. Hmmm, why do I get the feeling I'm just having a conversation with myself! This means it's time for me to log off!
4. Haha, I'm still not following you! Of course I know that forum, we're posting in it! Also, the 880M isn't listed there. I'm just trying to find out how he managed to change the voltage on his 880M if he hasn't flashed a modded vBIOS? Come on, speak in English, or someone else chime in if they know the answer!
5. I'm not following you j95, what do you mean? Are you saying 880M is voltage adjustable even without a modded vBIOS?
6. @Supplix, how did you manage to increase the voltage if you've not get a modified vBIOS? Did you design one yourself? (I thought all Kepler cards had zero voltage control unless you flashed a modded vBIOS.)
7. Thanks for the comparison scores, yes you can tell that the overclock doesn't really do much for the 880M on the stock vBIOS. You said that it throttles when the card's not loaded, which you said caused your low score - actually it's the opposite, your card is getting overloaded & then downclocking in response. But yes, not much point in overclocking the 880M on the stock vBIOS according to your results at least. Anyone else, post up your scores. :-)
8. Yep, let's see some comparisons between stock & overclocked 3DMark11 GPU scores on the 880M. Anyone reading this, go ahead and post up your scores - would be interesting.
9. @Supplix, what was your 3DMark11 GPU score at stock, and then at your overclock? Would be interesting to see if there was much of a difference, and also what your scores were anyway.
10. No, I don't think you need to flash it again, you don't get GPU's compatible only with Win7 or Win8 for instance, so you should be fine.
11. Good stuff, let us know what voltage and what overclock you reach, 3DMark11 scores would be fun to see too. I think you'll be happy you flashed it.
12. Yeah, those modified vBIOS's are great! :-)
13. Good stuff, so no throttling problems now with the modified vBIOS?
14. Yes, you'll want one of these!: http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/1847-nvidia-kepler-vbios-mods-overclocking-editions-modified-clocks-voltage-tweaks.html
15. It works fine in my Chrome - so weird! I don't know if that will be a problem with the vBIOS version number being different. I have seen reports of problems in the past if it is not the same version, but sometimes it works. I guess if it doesn't work you can always flash your original vBIOS back. Before you do it though, google to see if your model of laptop has had problems with flashing a different vBIOS version number. Maybe search this thread or elsewhere.
16. I just clicked on the link in my post, and it works. Click on the link in my previous post.
17. Here are the links to the downloads you want: NVIDIA - Downloads - Tech|Inferno Forums You'll have no problems with driver updates either.
18. 1.018V. Heaven benchmark screenshot at this link: Review Clevo P177SM-A (Schenker XMG P704) Barebones Notebook - NotebookCheck.net Reviews - - - Updated - - - Yes, for some reason that file is not located in this thread, but I remembered I'd found it for someone else before. Here it is, post #81 in this thread: http://forum.techinferno.com/general-notebook-discussions/4635-bios-vbios-modification-request-thread-svl7-9.html#post74364 @svl7, would it be worthwhile moving that vBIOS file you created to page one of this thread so people can find it easier?
19. Ah yes, I don't use such programs, I'm a more typical user probably (internet, office, gaming), so probably no use for me.
20. Mr. Fox, cheers for the video (I know it wasn't directed at me), but I wanted to try it. Good benchmark results on Crystal Disk Mark, but didn't notice any real world benefits in my usage pattern. I just tried the Cache program rather than the RAM disk program, and experimented with 2 and 4GB caches on both the SSD operating system drive and my HDD data drive. A low cache hit rate on both the caches, operating system hit rate was 10% through the day, which was the highest figure. I'm just gonna let Windows manage the memory now, it caches previously accessed data anyway, and doesn't make the cached RAM unavailable to program use too (less data loss issues too). I get the impression these 3rd party cache programs can't work miracles, ultimately the speed of the storage system is always gonna be dictated by the speed of your boot drive & storage drives. Interesting to try though - thanks.
21. It just voids your warranty if your card fails and Dell find out that you flashed a modded vBIOS, which they might do if it dies and you can't flash it back to stock. The other danger is if you tweak the voltage up, that puts more stress on the GPU which might shorten it's life. If you only increase it a little, similar to the voltage of the 880M then you should be fine I would have thought. You could google notebookcheck reviews of the 880M to work out what the max voltage of the 880M is.
22. Yes, with some compromises. Here's a thread on it: M17x r3 680M compatability - Page 103
23. Wow, that's amazing that they've supplied you a laptop with a 120Hz screen that's not supporting anything over 60Hz! As you know HTWingNut (remember you from notebookforums) the 780M and 880M are the same chips apart from some 880M's have 8GB VRAM in contrast to 4GB VRAM of the 780M (and also higher clocks like you mentioned). I don't see why flashing it to a 780M wouldn't work, but perhaps only it would work if you have a 4GB version of the 880M (I heard they do exist). I think it could possibly brick your 880M if it's the 8GB version, or perhaps you might end up with only 4GB VRAM accessible. Considering that you have sli I wonder if there's a way of testing it by flashing only one card to see if it works, that way you might be able to avoid any blind flashing to fix a bricked card? Good question about when the modified vBIOS for the 880M will appear, I have no idea. @svl7, is there any word on when the modified 880M vBIOS might appear?
24. I don't know about MSI Afterburner. I'd try NVidia Inspector. NVIDIA Inspector Download version 1.9.7.2
