  1. I'm no expert, and legislation is different depending where you live, but are you not able to make a record of what is happening and explain the situation with Dell? I would have thought that if a defective port is causing damage to your property (the MSATA) then they would be liable to fix the fault or replace/refund the MSATA? This is providing that you could prove it is definitely the port and not some other factor. Like I said, I'm no expert, but it maybe something to think about and ask someone about.
  2. Classic Dell... The customer service agents don't know their own product line... They offer 32 and 64gb caching options (probably where the customer service agent was getting confused.) They also offer a 128 and 240gb boot option with a HDD for storage. As mentioned in my above post, I've been using (and recommend) the Intel 525 240GB MSATA. No issues at all. Very fast MSATA and Intel's software, the 'Intel SSD Toolbox' allows you to keep an eye on performance and its lifespan.
  3. I'm sure you're overwhelmed with requests. Therefore, instead of request, I simply ask, do you have plans to unlock A12 BIOS for Alienware M14XR2? Keep up the good work! +1

EDIT - What information do you require from me and my system?

  4. That is the reason I have to stick with A12. I frequently travel between Canada and the UK, so the battery issue is a problem for me (you have no idea how much a couple hours with the laptop on that duration flight can help!) I'm aware that simply using A11 will not ruin my system, it will just be an inconvenience. Thanks for your concern and attempts at helping though. Also, it appears there are others who are unwilling to downgrade. /and given that the new Alienware laptops have been released, it could mean that A12 is the last BIOS for the M14XR2.
  5. I'm absolutely prepared to donate, however, I'm a strong believer in supporting a product or service being provided. I don't mean to sound ungrateful or rude, but I (personally) will donate upon receiving something which has aided me in some way. Otherwise I'd feel happier giving my (earned) cash to the homeless/charity instead of (most likely /assuming) employed, earning individual. Again, no disrespect to anyone, just my views - I hope you can respect where I'm coming from.
  6. While I appreciate you trying to help, I personally am not a fan of downgrading. Everything is currently working and I see no need to take a step backwards from being impatient. I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels this way and would kindly ask if TI can confirm if they're working on A12 or not? If not, fair enough, your decision, you're the ones who are kind enough to offer this in the first place, I just don't want to wait for something which is never going to actually exist :]
  7. Not that I am impatient, but how long do these sorts of updates take you? Are they fairly simple upgrades or complete overhauls/new?
  8. Hello everyone, I just joined the forums. I apologise if the following has been asked before, but is there a version of VBIOS for current A12BIOS? I would love to be able to further overclock my GT650m but don't like downgrading if I really don't have to, or if something is in the works and I can wait. Willing to donate once there is a working version! :] Thanks in advance.
  9. I just joined the forums, My setup is a little unorthodox, I purchased my M14XR2 with the Samsung 256gb SSD and then purchased the Intel 525 240gb MSATA SSD. My Samsung contains the OS, software and media. My Intel contains everything and anything game related. So in answer to your question, yes, it works as 'mass' storage.
