  1. Maybe it's because you and I got older and games got less attractive. And maybe you earn more money to get better notebook.
  2. @Prema I thought 990m would come out as "on-board" not "mxm".
  3. Alienware 18 Gaming Laptop | Dell Wow, alienware18 with 4790k, not to mention 980m sli.
  4. We need to get that Dell 980m mxm vbios to fix alienware 980m problems. P0 P1 state bug is very annoying.
  5. Windows 10 can be installed on m17x R3 which doensnt support UEFI. This is because win10 need not to be installed under UEFI.
  6. Sorry to hear that news. Rest in peace to your friend @Prema
  7. @svl7 Alienware M18xR4 System BIOS for Win8.1 Driver Details | Dell US Here is A12 BIOS for m18x R2. Old bios dont support some button with win8.1. Could you please update unlocked bios?
  8. Hi, Command center button and ODD eject button of both m17x R4 and m18x R2 dont seem to work properly. Googled but there was no answer. I am using win 8.1 with latest bios and latest command center button. Is anyone using the button properly?
  9. It is sad that your first alienware is 17R2. The worst 17'inch alienware so far. Since AD.
  10. @J95 Thanks for your nvidia mod. Really appreciate your work. So you got 980m for your own You are using it on win8.1 right? There is still no way to use 980m win7 without optimus (or 3D m17x R4)?
  11. Yes I think so. Seems correct. BTW, flashing can cause trouble if you dont know how to backup and reflash vbios when you get trouble. Do it at your own risk.
  12. not DOS not explorer but command prompt with administrator mode and type "mnflash -6 romname.rom"
  13. This is how I flash vbios in m17x R4 (non-3D). -I use unlocked bios 1. turn on laptop -> press F2 -> bios -> 2nd advanced tab -> primary display = SG 2. Boot tab -> UEFI with legacy enabled 3. save (F10) 4. windows 8.1 5. command prompt with administrator 6. mnvflash -6 romname.rom 7. windows start button -> restart 8. F2 -> bios -> 2nd advanced tab -> primary display = PEG 9. Boot -> UEFI without legacy 10. F10 save have done like this.
  14. Yes I am saying you're wrong. Isn't the flash program that svl7 provided named as "xxx_win"? I think you should read and make yourself clear what you are doing before doing anything. - - - Updated - - - >> Read the instructions carefully before flashing! << If anything is unclear after reading or if you have additional remarks, please post in the thread. Flashing: - Go to the device manager -> ' Display Adapters' -> chooser your GPU, right click on it and choose disable - Flash the VBIOS with mnvflash , a modified version of nvflash (see attachments). Here are detailed instructions for nvflash in case you aren't familiar with it. - After the flashing is done: Enable the GPU once again in the device manager. - Reboot Do NOT use driver 347.09, it's broken and useless and won't allow you to overclock, even with the stock firmware. 15. Read the main post by svl7. Why are you even trying to flash in DOS? The program is not meant to work in DOS.
  16. For your question, my answer is - I hate optimus. I dont use optimus at all time. - I only use optimus when I flash. --> using svl7's unlocked bios, I enable optimus(primary graphic = sg) + uefi with legacy enabled -> win 8.1 -> flash vbios -> then go to bios and change primary graphic = peg + uefi without legacy
  17. P750zm is shipped already. Why do you think it is not shipped? They are already here even in Korea. They were shipped like nearly 2-3 weeks ago.
  18. no ive tried this vbios in m17x r4 and m18x r2. The mod vbios didnt remove the throttle. but with 347 driver, even i cant oc, no throttle at all. 1202 core and 2506 memory clock is well maintained during all the tests ive tried.
  19. @svl7 In m17x R4 and m18x R2, the gpu clock throttles down to 200~500. Tried to give more power (up to 140%) without(=1.0v) or with voltage (=1.1v), but no work. Any idea?
  20. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-4790K,Notebook P750ZM Works great on clevo. Not that well on old alienwares. m17x R4, m18x R2.
  21. In m17x R4 and m18x R2, mod-vbios even worsen the gpu core throttle with 344.xx driver. But works very nicely with 347.xx. Anyone got them work in old alienware like 17R4 or 18R2?
  22. I've over-volted 980m, but no work. Would that trick work?
  23. @mikecacho Mikecacho, have you seen my gpu-z log? Is your "throttle" like mine? Going down to 400hz?
  24. GPU-Z Sensor Log.txt This is my gpu-z log when it throttles. gpu-z log file shows that gpu core clock went all the way down to 431-444 and memory clock down to 799.
