mw86
the method you were using for your 6970s with rbe works really well with the 5870s i have to use the overclock tunner though if i don't i have to reflash them right now i'm currently sitting at 800 mhz and 1100 mhz on memory i'm sure i could push it further as i think max they were hitting 83C i did a repaste on everything and its running like a champ now, i know my cpu is at 3.2 5% overclock but it seems to run a bit hot did they release new fans with the R2?, reason i ask is because this is actually an r1 system, i've changed the motherboard out the gpus, cpu, and to a blu ray player everything else is from the r1 and all works perfectly.O and the screen from the 1440x900 to the 1980x1200 i would have bought 2 of them had my cards not reflashed correctly but i ended up spending that elsewhere That's very cool I had an R2. The R1 must be nice too and since you upgraded the parts its even sweeter. Not sure if R1 were different then R2 fans but my guess is yes. Sweet so you have an R1 w/ 1200 RGB FTW! I loved my R2's RGB 1200P... missinit4real:30_002:. I'm testing for a solid overlock to to flash and my last clocks were still high my latest is 812 and 1075-1100 also which is nice for 1.1v... but you have the ability to use 1.15v in your flash which is an overvolt and its programmable with RBE. The voltages underneath those profiles are important. so you have 1.1v in your 3d clocks or 1.05 i don't remember... but if you set 1.15 and have the gpus well cooled you can 24/7 gaming 900 core and probably raise the mem higher but the core is the important one... then ranges over 900 are pretty much bench range... DR650Se 1ghz core on dry ice... i think... btw for a comparison the 6970/6990m can't overvolt at all by flashing must be soldered in a complicated process. So 6970/6990m=1.1v or< 5870m=1.15v or < Edited November 1, 2011 by mw86
Blitz
i technically have an r1/2 r1 parts are the card reader, wifi card, bluetooth card, keyboard, speakers, and bottom chassis, so the service tag is an r1 service tag everything else is r2
mw86
lets see pic of it if you have a chance sometime. screen must be neat on R1 now.

Blitz
cheap to for what it is, after it was bought for 500 (the R1) i traded the msi i used to reflash this for it so no money lost there technically bought the motherboard, screen, cpu, and gpus to make it an r2 and after selling everything off im into the laptop with hdds and all 300 dollars so i'll take that upgrade for that cheap
Blitz
also overclocked to 900 mhz gpu 1200 Mhz mem 1.13V max temps were 85C running bf3 for about 2 hours so i'm quite happy its running amazing
mw86
also overclocked to 900 mhz gpu 1200 Mhz mem 1.13V max temps were 85C running bf3 for about 2 hours so i'm quite happy its running amazingThats what i thought now you've got the 5870's going good... congrats
Blitz
now just got to get that cpu run a bit cooler anything over 90C i hate i think i saw 1 core at 94c and it could be the R1 fan i'll have to look into it more
mw86
maybe you can take inner fan out and splice a new one inside the fan housing... you'd need to remove the fan from its axel then place new one in the old housing... the M18x went to paddle looking fins maybe something like that? They move the air pretty good....
Blitz
that could work i might look into that today good idea wouldn't be hard to do either
Blitz
well i took it back apart and removed a bit of paste on the side of the die and its idling at 35C running prime for 45 mins max temps got to 75C and it sat and held for quite awhile i think its cooler because of less paste and my room is 40F so if it was 70F i think it will run around 85-86C on prime which is great got her fixed and working great,i also did a bench 3dmark06 and got 20532 so pretty good about 1000 up from before
