Gigabyte U2442N Fan and GPU Request (svl7)

Recommended Posts

Is there any chance I could get our latest BIOS modded to OC the 640M to around 1000 core and also reduce the temp that the fans spin up? Gigabyte has done a horrible job with fan control, they set the fans to trigger below idle CPU temps, so the fans spin up erratically in an attempt to cool the CPU.

Thanks in advance!

Fans will be controlled by the EC BIOS (BIOS for the chipset's ARM processor), which is embedded within the system BIOS, not the video BIOS.

I understand, the BIOS I've linked holds both BIOS.

Bump, a lot of owners having been dying for these tweaks for almost a year (fail Gigabyte). I'd do this myself if I had the knowledge/skill. Is anyone willing to help?

I would be so happy if someone could turn the temperature the fan begins to spin higher. I would do the bios dump, but somehow I dont have permission to download the tool you linked.

I tried the tool and it doesn't seem to work. Amal77 was able to mod our bios straight from the file Gigabyte offers. Slv7, is that possible in this case?

There's a reason why I'm asking for the dump. It's not just to bother you.

Also the tool works.

Haha, I know! I didn't mean it like that bro. I'm not able to pull the BIOS though, still getting the error ( I followed your instructions to the T). Perhaps there is a way to dump the BIOS without booting into the OS?

Hi,

TheLaw, did you manage to dump the bios?

I'm also really interrested in having a modded bios (to OC the 640M over 135mhz)...

I have a U2442N too, but i don't have the right to access the tools of slv7.

Can I help in any other way?

edit: I need some more post to download the tools. I'll try to dump the bios asap.

Yeah, PM him for access I guess and follow the post he instructed. I can't get it to work and don't have the time to attempt it for a month or so.

Hey there,

got the Bios !

I didn't use the tools of slv7 because I still don't have my 5 posts (It's too hard to help! Others know far more than me ^^).

I hope it is what you need (it is a"*.307A" but you can rename it to "*.rom") : U2442BF.307A (8.0 Mo)

If you need the whole package (it is extracted from the exe from gigabyte) : BIOS.zip (3.1 Mo)

If you could have a look at that slv7 it would be nice :D

Thanks a lot in advance!

edit : i tried to look into the bios thanks to MMTool, but I can't find the vbios in it. Could you tell me where i can find it ? (for learning purpose ^^)

edit 2 : I finally found the vBIOS ! The GUID : C5D7EAAD-B218-482C-A909-E3B8CDB00E94

I uploaded it if you want : VBIOS (89 Ko)

I dont know what to do with that... I opened it with "Kepler Bios Tweaker" (KBT) but i'm not sure what to change in it, and how to put it back in the bios...

Yes thanks ^^ but that is not my issue.

Sorry it wasn't clear : KBT is working, my problem is that i don't know how it works.

If i want to OC my GPU, what should I do ?

So far I increase the Base clock and the Boost clock on the "Common" tab.

And I increase se "max GPC" (at the same value as the Boost clock) in the "Boost State" tab.

Should I do anything else ?

Thanks for your help :)

Win8... I need a dump of your bios, use this.

Hi,

I've got the dump you asked : BiosBackup.bin (2.5 Mo)

Is there a chance of removing the 135MHz limit on the vBIOS ?

I'd like to do it myself but i'm afraid of doing something wrong and bricking my laptop :/

Thanks in advance !

edit: as said earlier the GUID of the vBIOS if needed : C5D7EAAD-B218-482C-A909-E3B8CDB00E94
