grangiebb
Hey guys,How's it going? So on Saturday, I purchased a brand new Alienware laptop. Everything seemed to be running fine until later that night, It would not boot to Windows, and just beeped 8 times, over and over. On sunday, I contacted Alienware technical support and arranged for a tech to come over to my house and replace the LCD screen. Long story short, it seemed to solve the problem. The morning after the tech had been to fix my computer, I got the dreaded 8 beeps again (just my luck), so I decided to take it upon myself, open the PC up, to see if the LCD cable was in correctly. I unplugged, then plugged it back in again, and now that seems to have fixed it.Anyway so my question is, does anybody know why this keeps happening? Am I doing something wrong? It's going to get very annoying if i keep have to repeat this process. Thanks a lot for your support guys,Nick
jamesst20
Hi,Beeps are an error code and 8 Beeps = LCD Failure which is why they replaced the screen but it could also be the connector on the motherboard that is fautly :/Alienware Beep Codes Table | Dell
grangiebb
Hey James, Appreciate the response. Yeah well it all seemed to be working perfectly once I played around with it a little. Unfortunately today when I arrived home from work, it's given me the 8 beep error code again :<. Been on the phone to Dell technical support, they say that they are going to send out another tech, I'm tempted to ask for a replacement. A 3 day old computer should not be acting like this, especially with the amount of money that I have spent on it.Thanks,Nick
Founder StamatisX Posted February 14, 2013 Founder Share Posted February 14, 2013 Maybe it's the cable that doesn't make proper contract and every time you open and close the lid you trigger thatSent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk
Founder Michael Posted February 14, 2013 Founder Share Posted February 14, 2013 yep, seems like the mobo LCD connector is botched. I'd call Dell for a mobo replacement.
