Hey guys, I tried searching for a linux thread about the g75vw but I didn't find anything and as I've been trying to dump the old windows and switch to Linux Ubuntu, but being a long time Windows and Mac user I had my bumps and scratches. Hello. I am trying to setup this configuration but I am not very sure about the internal display working on Ubuntu. Although the wiki page for optimus mentions that this technology works for Windows and Linux. But I am yet to find any implemention of this setup. Would welcome your valuable suggestions.

Upon trying to install (k)ubuntu, and possibly other Linux distributions, you may find that your installation stalls with a blank screen. I'm posting this here rather than in Linux section because it's specific to this make and/or model, but I've seen other posts with issues getting past install. The trick to getting the desktop install to boot completely to the GUI is to enable legacy boot in the BIOS (still allowing UEFI), as well as removing your 2nd GPU card during install. Once you have the system installed, reboot and install the real nvidia drivers, shut down your system, re-insert your 2nd GPU and you're all set. I'm not exactly sure why the legacy option has to be enabled even when you're using EFI, but it seems to have something to do with the way the graphics are set up during POST.

Hi all, I'm having big troubles booting from the mSATA when a hard drive is inserted in the 2.5" hard drive bay. I'm attempting to boot Ubuntu off the mSATA and GRUB (bootloader) won't even load; it just reaches a black screen and enters a high-power state. If I unplug the 2.5" drive and leave it out OR insert it in the CD/DVD with a caddy, it boots mSATA fine. Can anyone please confirm that booting mSATA works with 2.5" inserted? Could this possibly be a manufacturing error? BIOS?

Hey Guys.. It may Sound Stupid or Crazy to Install Mac OSX and Ubuntu on an Alienware.. But I Want to .. I dont have any Experience with VirtualBox. but i have seen ppl running MAC OSX and UBUNTU at the same time via Virtual Box.. i need a Someone who can Guide me through the Process.. if you have some Tutorial Specifically for this Purpose than please post the link.. All The Advice and Suggestion and Comments are appreciated
