Hi everybody! I am also the owner y510p like many of you! Some time ago I decided to upgrade the CPU, and after a long search found references to authentic information that help you to upgrade to Intel® Core ™ i7-4910MQ Processor (8M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz). Previously, I had a Intel® Core ™ i7-4700MQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz). I have not conducted specific tests, but on the whole system more responsive. If someone is interested in information about the final performance - write in the comments and I'll try your test. Have you changed your CPU? If you have changed, on what CPU? I wish you all a good day! My setup: GeForce GT 755M SLI Intel® Core ™ i7-4910MQ Processor 16gb RAM (DDR3-1600 Kingston 11-11-11-28) 240gb SSD Kingston SH103S3240G 256gb SSD Transcend TS256GMTS400 (m2)

I have an HP Probook 6570b, Motherboard is Hewlett-Packard 17AB (U3E1) with HM76 Chipset, rPGA988b Socket and CPU is i5-3210M. This is a list supported CPU's, but it's a support list for the HM76 Express Chipset, and not a support list for Motherboard's. http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel_(chipsets)/HM76_Express.html Can I upgrade to i7 Quad, preferably i7-3840QM? I've read that people with QM77 Chipset were successful, but what about HM76 Chipset?

Okay, so I'm thinking about upgrading my cpu in my laptop in a year or so. I have a Y500 with a i5-3230M, and I want to put in an i7-3612QM because it's a quad core. I've looked and it's the same voltage as my current cpu, and the same socket. However, I want to know whether the cpu in the Y500 is socketed or soldered in, can I take it out safely and put a new cpu in? Also, if I do put in a new cpu, what do I have to do to accommodate it? Do I have to get a new bios? Also, can my motherboard support a cpu that draws 45W instead of 35W? There are Y500's with cpus that draw 45W, so will it work the same in my laptop? Thanks

Steven told me to order with the 2720, but I cant shell out the cash. My goal was to haggle for 8gbs of RAM, but now Im wondering if I should seek the 2720. My other option is to get the 2630QM, and upgrade when prices drop. So really, how hard is it? And this is coming from a standpoint of someone whos really done nothing more to a notebook than upgrade ram.
