Congrats on the new laptop! As far as the RAM goes I do believe 1866MHZ is the max speed of supported RAM, but honestly out side on benching you won't notice the difference between 1600MHZ and 1866MHZ RAM. As far as Win 8 goes that is a personal decision that is up to you. A lot of people strongly feel adversely towards WIN 8, while others are happy with it.
