Just like the title says. went from 6970m's in XFire to one 780m, wiped all drivers, booted in IGFX only. shut down, installed 780m with proper heatsink booted to bios (had to reset bios which was a pain) card will not detect in bios. I bought an MSI card, and after purchasing I read that it may have a vBios locked to MSI. Would that cause it to not show up in BIOS? I've tried re-installing 4 times now, same result. I would absolutely love any insight as I love this beast of a laptop and want it to work with this beast of a GPU!

Hello all, I'm the excited new owner of a secondhand M18xR1. Should have it in a few days. Specs as follows: i7 2670qm (have a 2920XM on the way) dual HD6990M's and 4 gigs of ram with a 500gb HDD (have a Samsung 830 SSD to go in. I have read extensively on the heat issues with this model so the first thing I'll be doing is checking to see if Bios A05 is installed. Is there anything else I should know about it? What Ram would be best in this? I've read that it can take 1866mhz but specs say 1600mhz. Would I notice much difference with the 1866 over the 1600? And I'm thinking of installing Win8 on it. Anyone have experience with that? good or bad idea? So excited to get this lappy, and be part of this forum! GT90
