1. M17 R4 3D here...just update to 359.00 today... I used 353.49 (without Precision X but with MSI) for months without problems.. however I wouldn't suggest to update 'cause probably I was just lucky...do it at your own risk!
@vj88 I've posted this several weeks ago >uninstall MSI AB< as a precaution (Keeping RTSS)...
Glad you guys all got it working again. I have also been made aware of a guy who never used EVGA Precision X but bricked it while playing with MSI Afterburner.

So best is to stick with NVIDIA Inspector until NVIDIA gets this g-sync pass through access filtered in their driver.

Also ZM/DM system user have to flash their screens in another system as the Linux App doesn't support their hardware, yet.

For backing up your current EDID (.bin) I would suggest to use this software:

  6. Any news? Still no problem here but I'm stuck on 352.49... just unistalled MSI even if it doesn't gave me problems...

It's working fine here...without bloatware unlike most AW owners (Dell/AW crappy software) '40-45 processes' not the best test scenario anyway.

    I'll mod next release.

    @J95

    Hey man

    Thanks for your reply!

I actually downloaded your latest nvcvi.inf file (2 pages back I think) and used a tool called WinMerge to compare it line by line with the official inf file from Nvidia for the same driver version. The only differences it found were the entries in the OS and Strings sections. Am I missing something? Or did it happen that you didn't include tweaks/enhancements in that specific driver version? Were your tweaks included only in the 353 PEG version? That version doesn't apply for Optimus right? I am sorry again as I am a bit late to join the party... I am doing my best to catch up and get myself informed about what has been done so far to mod drivers for the 980m .

I did import the profiles using NV inspector.

I am planning to do some research into what exactly the "enhancer" of Laptopsvideotogo does to inf files. I am just really curious about how everything works.

I do know something, the 980m rocks so far. I don't even think I need to change anything in it. I did some OC yesterday and was able to get some serious results in benchmarks but IMO it's just not worth it aside from that. I did some benching using Fraps in Arkham Knight and Witcher 3 and differences are negligible. So I'll stick to stock frequencies (I always did this with all my GPU's anyway...) The only difference was with my 880m which throttled like a 90 year old, something slv's vbios fixed completely for me.

AW17/Optimus model requires specific entries or you will end w/ blank screens. Since throttling is not an issue...install latest drivers and avoid switching to Dedicated for the time being.

Always check sections, Nvidia likes messing them up lately...:D

    Hi J95,

Thanks for providing the details on modifying the .ini file. The problem I'm having is that the screen constantly blinking like a strobe light after the install and rebooting to the desktop.

    Device ID: PCIVEN_10DE&DEV_11A0&SUBSYS_05511028&REV_A1 M17xR4 / Win 7 64bit / GTX 680M

However, I am trying to install the 310.90 mobile driver from nvidia's website and there is no file that is "nvdmi.ini" in the "Display.Driver" folder. There's just a "nvdm.ini" file. Also, all the codes that I need to change are all there; seems I don't need to change anything.

What am I doing wrong / not doing that is causing the screen blinking after driver install?

Run DDU "Clean & Shutdown" try different drivers, supported configuration so INF modding is not required. Try disabling IGP (HD4000)...if the issue still persists; report it here https://forums.geforce.com/default/board/33/geforce-drivers/ proper thread & main driver thread.

    Hey man

I recently upgraded my 2013 AW17 R5 (Ranger) from the stock 880m to a 8GB 980m mxm. I was able to use the latest drivers from Eurocom.

I will be trying to install your Fallout 4 drivers tonight. I have a question though. I actually modded the official Nvidia drivers last night but the only way I was able to install them was by pointing Device Manager to the nvdmi.inf file (the inf for Dell). Even though I was modding the nvcvi.inf file exactly the same way I did for the nvdmi.inf, the installation was failing.

Is there any problem in the method I used? The driver versions shows up correctly in the device manager and in GeForce experience. Do your modder inf files include anything else than the added Dev strings and OS entries?

    Thanks a lot!

Just replace HWIDs as explained HERE, my mods include tweaks...Optimus AW17 use nvcvi.inf to avoid blank screens, 120Hz model use nv_dispi.inf (PEG/Dedicated).

AW17/120Hz try installing PEG MOD 353.00 sig (Win8.1) to avoid throttling.

  11. @J95 I just had a look on your link above and downloaded the stuff attached. Few clarifications needed:

    - I downloaded the one '-> GeForce 352.84 PEG MOD win10 <-' and also that one at very bottom of your post 'GeForce 353.00 PEG MOD latest profiles' and I can see they have been both edited 11/9 (today) by you and that they have the same name: '352.84_PEG_MOD_win10.rar'.

Question: Am I right to expect it is indeed the already moded driver ready to use for me and both links are pointing the same file ?

    or

Question: Do I need to overwrite with the nv-dispi.inf (dated 08/06) like stated in sequence?

    - I downloaded the 'Full_Profiles_352.84.txt.zip' file (date 11/6)

    - I dowloaded the two files '980M_Single_GPU_NVI_Task_bat_win10.zip' and '980M_SLI_NVI_Task_bat_win10.zip' don't know if I am right doing so because I have a 970M ...

I read all the sequences of instructions and the new ones for me are those ones dealing with NV Inspector. Sorry but I never used so far NV Inspector so I would like to understand what the job here. Below is what I expect the sequence is actually doing:

    - I first do the setup.exe until completion but I don't reboot (hope I will not have an unstable display because it could happen when not rebooting)

    - I understand I run NV Inspector(I will download the last version (?) and install it before) and I first import the 'Full_Profiles_352.84...' you provided - so overwriting the existing one

    - Just after I restore to default (... it's weird or perhaps is it a trick?)

    - I reboot

    - I go to control panel and I setup 3D performances...

... and after I don't really understand what I need to do with NV inspector as per your instructions. I suspect I have a use here of the '980M_Single_GPU_NVI_Task_bat_win10.zip' I downloaded (but for the 970M) however I don't see what's the purpose here of all that last sequence of instructions. Can you explain ? Or is it not needed with my 970M?

Thanks for your time & support... I owe you one anyway !

  13. Does anybody know how to modify an INF file for a 980m on a Clevo P160SM-A? I'm running Premamod's latest bios and his modified 8gb 980m bios. I reverted to the original, but Windows 10 still sees it as a basic Window display adapter.

    Info is: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D7&SUBSYS_51061558

Optimus model?...Just follow my previous post, use your machine ID instead (5106).

    Hi @J95,

I am currently running a M17xR4 (057B) 120hz with 970M-6gB (13D8) on W10-64. I have a 352.84 modded driver I downloaded and that makes the job but not perfect. I experience a lot of 'painful' cold boots (meaning extra long in time + needing or not a new button restart to finally reach Win 10 screen) of the laptop. This is never happening when I do a shutdown-reboot by the way. It is happening wether or not I have a second display plugged by HDMI or mini-display Port.

The above behaviour is quite consistent because I am now running for more than three weeks that way. When I am using the laptop however all is fine.

I would like to make a test in installing the most recent (358.87) driver of nvidia. So I need to modify the .INF but I have no clear idea on how to do it exactly. I downloaded the stock 358.87 driver and also the last driver I found on the dell site and said compatible with 970M + win 10 64 (it is one for the new M17 R3; an update from begining of September).

But now I am hesitating on how to continue, I looked into the files but I am not confident in copy-pasting the ID's and so on. Could you help please ?

NB: I am aware of the issues with LCD bricks but ready to do a test after having safely survived the last month with the 352.84 driver.

352.84 mod...already told woodzstack to link my work instead, 353.06 INFs are useless without the proper files.

  16. Hey guys I came across a weird issue last night. After gaming for just under 2hrs I noticed my fans going really loud. Upon checking I noticed my GPUs were heating up to 79-80 mark! They never get this hot while running games alone. Tbh the hottest I've seen themnget before was 74-75 and that was intensive benchmarking. Strangely though both GPUs indicating only 548mhz usage but no drop in performance or fps.

I find this very odd as usually in game they both run at 1126mhz. Unless throttling in which case it would affect performance severely and drop the fps.

Can anyone shed some light on this please? The GPU usage so low and the temps that high don't add up :$

I haven't changed drivers and been using the same set up all along. Tried with different games to see if it was specific to one but all the same.

    353.00 installed?

Increased GPU temperature is normal (1127/2505), although 79-80 is pretty high...probably hitting +85C (548mhz), check for dust clogging your heatsink fins/vents...including thermal pad layout, poor contact between GPU die & heatsink.

HWiNFO max reported gpu temperature and voltage...screenshot?

    Avoid DSR, use AA instead.

  18. Hi

Can anyone help me with modding the inf for 358.50-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql ?

    Gtx 970m 6gb

    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D8&SUBSYS_51051558

    Clevo P150em

    Win 8.1 Pro

i have already tried modding nvami.inf

which let me install everything( with driver signing off) but black screen after restart,

tried modding nvci.inf but back to not detecting card /unable to install,

I also tried both of them modded and same result black screen with occasional white dot on bottom left corner on boot up

DDU removed all Nvidia from pc

I'm pretty sure i just havent modded the right inf or not modded it correctly

Any info or advice would be much appreciated.

    thanks

  19. Yes, it seems this driver is really throttle proof... two days gaming testing with Prema 1.1.1 BIOS, the AW PEG MOD 353.00 don't flinch a inch :positive: with sustained 1127Mhz GPU clocks (boost clock), it's a really nice fix indeed. Now if just the newer drivers could be this good... Batman Arkhan Knight will be back in Steam Store in 10/28. But anyway thanks J95 for this perfect driver fix for 980M, I'll be using for my default video drivers from now on while testing new ones too.

No problem, Batman AK or other games requesting latest drivers is not an issue anymore...trick...:D

This will keep your 980Ms both Throttle proof and updated, until the vBIOS fix is released.

  20. Second day testing 353.00 drivers and original Clevo VBIOS, no throttle yet, gaming with very graphic demanding games on ultra. I'm using Hwinfo64 on-screen info now instead of Msi Afterburner, GTX 980M SLI / P0 - P1 NV inspector switching core and Vram default values. I believe testing more 2 days I can give a true opinion about this driver.

One thing I noticed is that sometimes GPU runs at normal core clock of 1038MHz insteady of 1127MHz boost in very demanding scenes, but thats not much a problem at all because almost gives no decrease in game FPS.

Edit: Found that this behavior comes from Clevo BIOS, having nothing related about installed video drivers.

    Please test CLEVO_8GB_GTX980M_OC_PM_v1.1.1

    NV Inspector -> P0/P1 matching.

GPU throttling w/ v1.1.1...then you will need to ask @Prema to link previous version 1.1 instead.

  21. Hi there first,

i had changed Yesterday my Graphics Card on my Alienware M17XR3 from an Nvidia GTX 560M to the GTX 880M, is there any way how to get it installed on Win10? It was easy to install with an modded in under Win7 which i had to install to use my

PC but there i can´t acces my full RAM :( I tried to understand how i must edit the inf file but i don´t know how.

    greetings Sven

    Hi,

This is a great site, most problems are solved. Just registered and would need help on this topic. I've got MSI GT70. Originally come with GTX 675 and now upgraded to GTX880, but windows recognizes it as default, basic video adapter. Using win10 64bit. Currently have bios E1762IMS.50U (2012). My product id is: Device PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1198&SUBSYS_05AA1462&REV_A1\4&31a1af22&0&0008
