  1. I've never had a 360 myself, always been a PC gamer (well I had a Original XBOX but that's it). Know lots of people who's original 360's RRoD'd, which is probably why the 203W PSUs are so abundant (I got mine for £15).
  2. The problem with AMD GPUs is that if you want to use internal LCD then you have to add in the cost of Virtu, also you loose the PCIe Compression. Also I have no problems running the 650Ti using the 203W xbox psu, but then again that might be higher quality than some of the cheapo stuff. I personally don't see the advantage of the PE4H over PE4L.
  3. it might be worth checking eBay for the PE4L. my PE4L was $80 shipped. PE4L V2.1b + EC2C + 60cm Flat HDMI (EC-060A) GEN.2 PCI-E / PCI-E Slot Adapter | eBay I live in England and I did not have to pay VAT. It came straight through customs no problem.
  4. Bah, the USB port on my PE4L seems to have started working now, and there isn't enough height in my enclosure to do anything with it. If I'd have known I would have gotten a slightly bigger enclosure so I could of fitted a USB Hub and Soundcard.
  5. It is really not tricky, I just bought a project box from Maplins for £5 and drilled holes in the appropriate places. The wiring for the power supply is not tricky at all.
  6. Here is an enclosure I made with a 650Ti and XBox PSU:
  7. You would be much better with an Nvidia card as this allows Optimus and PCIe compression. Both the PE4L and PE4H only support PCI 2.0, so the fact the card is 3.0 compatible makes no difference. To use the 16x, you need a system with 16 1x ports, which the X230T does not have. The 660Ti + PE4L v2.1b would be the best combination for you.
  8. The 660ti is worth it over the Normal 660. (In my opinion) The 660ti is a Full size GK104, the same as the 670 etc. The 660 is only a GK106, the same as a 650Ti. If you're spending that much money, spend that little bit more and go for the 660Ti.
  9. I would first try the very long riser cable method if I were you. It will be much cheaper than messing with HWTOOLS stuff to begin with, and if you do in the end have to go to HWTOOLS stuff then you haven't lost much. You can start the external power supply by shorting the PS On pin to any ground pin, and no it won't damage the card.
  10. I think a YouTube video. And maybe some champers if I manage to not injure myself with the Dremel
  11. I'm building an enclosure for it too, so want to leave the big reveal and thread until it's finished.
  12. I have a 650Ti and the latest PE4L on my X220T and I am very happy with my performance. I will be making a thread like yours when I finish it all. Howver, my 3Dmark score is lower than yours. I'm guessing this is due to the slower processor however, I can run the heaven benchmark later at the same settings as you if you'd like a comparison.
  13. An update on my side, wiped my HDD completely, re installed Windows 8, got my 650Ti and everything works perfectly.
  14. I don't have a dGPU, I just have the Intel card. (X220t) FYI, If I don't use the hibernate->plug->unhibernate in 8, this happens over and over (the internal screen goes black and off) Under Windows 7, I can boot with the dGPU plugged and it all works first time.
  15. Interestingly, I have this problem with my 8600GT (test card) in Windows 8 64 bit, but not Windows 7 64 bit,
  16. Well I'm doing an eGPU project very soon (some of the parts have been ordered) but I have a few questions. -What is the USB port on the PE4L for? -I have Thinkpad X220 Tablet with 8GB RAM. Do you think I will need to use Setup 1.x? -What is the different between Opt1.2x and Opt1.1x and which will I end up with? Thanks
