  1. I need to report a bug with 352.84_PEG_MOD_win10 drivers for a M18XR2 with a 980m after shutting down windows 10. The system would boot what looked like normal but after a bit the screen would go black then I would get a mostly white screen with a mouse cursor, you could also see some colors in the white but speckled everywhere, then after a short moment it would go to a flashing screen with white squares on the bottom, I would have to hard power the system down, after that though things came up normal the bug seemes to occur after a shutdown every time (I was using Prema V2 vbios as well). I rolled back to an older driver 347.25 and that problem disappeared, I also tried out the newer driver @J95 had posted, I got it to install fine with no issues but I ran into throttling issues =/ so I rolled back but thank you guys for all your hard work! We would be lost without you guys. I also ran across another issue but not related to this driver, for those that use a M18XR2 with a 980m I seem to get random lock ups in games, I think I've narrowed it down to hwinfo64 controlling my fans (which sucks cause this helps my temps when they kick on earlier instead of 76-77), I'll keep testing to see if this was the issue.
  2. I've been playing Ark with @J95 vbios (I've also tried Prema's 2.0) and everything seems great except I get a random freeze now and then (game hoses up but I can see my mouse and hear music still and can talk in voip) only way I can recover is a hard reboot. I'm wondering if its Windows 10 related? I'm using the 352.84 peg drivers with the profiles. When I use Prema's vbios it works good for a while but eventually it gave me a PerfCap on Power? Temps looked good the hottest it got was maybe 75c using Prema's vbios but with J95's the hottest it gets is 70c. I have been using HWinfo64 to control the fans since my laptop only wants to kick them on around 76-77ish, so temps have been better for sure, I'm using Gelid Extreme Thermal paste and Fujipoly 17 W/mK pads on the ram on the rest of the components. Anyone else have a M18xR2 running a single 980m?
  3. This is the part that loses me, extract driver package as in the latest one? Then what do I do with the rar file in the second step? Extract driver package using 7-Zip - (I assume this is the latest international whql desktop driver?) Download -> GeForce 352.84 PEG MOD win10.rar <- (What do I do with this?) Display.Driver folder -> copy/overwrite nv_dispi.inf -> run setup.exe -> don't reboot yet <- (I get this step I think, I downloaded the correct one for my card / operating system and overwrote the one in the driver package right?) Thanks I'm just not clear on how to install this or I would try it.
  4. I reapplied the paste again last night and I hardly put any pressure on it at all, it seems to have helped but I'm still not near as low as you are. I tried out prema v2 vbios last night and I'm still running on older drivers I think its 347.25 due to the throttle issue I was seeing. ( I don't think I installed the peg dedicated drivers right so I went back to 347.25). I had no hard locks ups last night while playing, most of the time my temps was 68c but there was odd moments (mainly idle moments in gta V that I seen my temps go as high as 77c?) also when trying Ark Evolved I seen my temps hit 78c so I stopped, everything seems stable though but I don't want to run it hot, you should download FFXIV Heavensward benchmark and run it on extreme and see what your temps are, are you running a M18XR2 as well or which laptop are you running? I wonder if your cooling system is better than mine.
  5. How much pressure did you put on the heatsink when screwing it down? I'm paranoid about tightening it to much, I don't want to squish the paste out the sides of the chip, at one point when I had it applied the highest I seen it get was maybe 71? Also what vbios and drivers are you using if you don't mind me asking, and whats your voltages look like under gpu z?
  6. I have the newest driver loaded on, should gpu z show my gpu core clock and memory cranked up all the time? I'm also seeing some major throttling going on when I run a benchmark on the gpu core and the memory clock.
  7. I'm still pretty new at this and don't dare proceed till I ask some questions. I have a M18xR2 with a GTX980m I bought from woodstacks, I've already flashed over to prema's v2 vbios (after backing up the stock one that came with it) but have questions about installing this driver. Run DDU "Clean & Shutdown (Safe Mode) Extract driver using 7-Zip <---- I assume I download the main driver from Nvidia's site for the 980m and match your driver version then extract it right? This is what I had before playing with this Display device : GeForce GTX 980M on GM204-A GPU Display driver : 347.25 BIOS : 84.04.22.00.12 My temps look good as far as I can tell, they float around 75-76c , I'm using Fujipoly 16w/mk on everything but the memory and I'm also using GC-Extreme thermal paste. When playing GTA V under load I get a hard lock randomly, the video just freezes completely, I can hear people in teamspeak, I can talk to them but I have to hard power the system down before I can use the system again. I'm open for suggestions and help if anyone can help get me running, I'd really like to use this 980m it would bring my M18xr2 back to life for a while. I'm running Windows 10 64 bit, and I've been steering clear of evga precision etc after reading about all the bricked displays.
  8. Has anyone done this upgrade to the M17X R2? If so what kind of performance are you getting and can we run two of them or only one? Thanks I'm looking into doing this to my M17X R2 , my 5870's just aren't pulling it and Dell is just giving me a run around on trying to sell my upgrades for the video card end.
