  1. Need to watch that one as well.

Last movie I saw in the cinema was The Hobbit... horrible. Though I have to say I'm a big fan of the book, so if you never read the book it might be really enjoyable, nevertheless I recommend the book.

I didn't want to believe it when I heard they were turning it into a trilogy. LOTR made perfect sense, it's already in three parts and each one is easily filmworthy. The hobbit is a MUCH smaller and simpler (and IMO superior in some ways but don't get me started), it should have been done as one film, period.

It reeks of money grubbing to me. :50_002:

  2. Hey guys

I'm finally sick of my three system life, I need to find something that is more portable than the M18X but still extremely powerful (just look at my current specs:Banane56: ).

Current contenders are the P150em and the P370em, plus the 15" MSI models that can be configured with a 7970/680. I'm interested if anyone has something to add about models I'm not really aware of (meaning anything that launched in the last 6 months/with ivy bridge).

I know some people are going to say "But Jimbo, my foolish friend, the P370em is a 17.3, dual GPU competitor to the M18X".

    And it is....sort of....

Being almost 1.5kg lighter is a HUGE deal as the main problem I have with the Alien is the weight. Add to this that the 15" models with real GPUs seem to be less than 1kg lighter.... makes me wonder if sacrificing the power of dual GPU is worth it.

Then this is a size comparison pic (thanks to HTWingNut from... well, you know).

See where I'm going with this? :ambivalence:

So, I'm sorry for the slightly confused nature of the post, but I'm just seeking opinions, advice, whatever. Am I missing an obvious option? Do you think the size/weight difference is more than the pics and numbers make it appear? Can you help me in any way whatsoever? :77:

    Thanks

*Also, if I do go P370, 7970s or 680s? I have a *slight* preference for nvidia, but $500 is quite a jump.

  3. Just finished the game, really good, but it seemed easier to me than the first one... probably I should start walkthrough 2...

TVHM is where it's at difficulty wise, you go from being a total badass to getting smashed by weakling enemies. The first armored maniac nearly gave me a nervous breakdown; that said, don't even get me started on rabid stalkers. :77:

200hrs in and loving it still.... 18k badass, anyone else at this kind of level?

  4. Ahh, indeed - I see the 55w giveaway now.

My 2920xm ES reports as some seemingly random series of numbers, certainly not as a different intel CPU.

Thanks for clearing that up. It's still an amazing score...

(oh, and when the very first 7970 hit, I was predicting high 12k 3dm11P for CF-X, glad to know I've learned SOMETHING) :77:

  5. That range isn't bad, and the charging time sounds pretty good. Too good, TBH.

    Tesla website -

"Charging rate of 56 miles range per hour at max power The High Power Wall Connector is the fastest way to charge the Roadster and great for installation in a garage or outdoor parking area. Completely recharge – from empty to full – in less than 4 hours. This is the most “intelligent” connector making it ideal for long-term storage. Any certified electrician can install this unit."

That's what kills them as a viable personal option unfortunately, I live in a really big country, and 500km (300m) trips are relatively common for me. Their mobile adapter takes 48hrs to fully recharge it from a standard wall socket! I can see it being good for a runabout type vehicle though, if you could charge it every night. 60k seems a bit steep where I would buy a scooter (which has so much less embodied energy that the tesla would never get close in environmental terms, plus I doubt I would ever use ~55k worth of fuel. :P ).

It is interesting though, definitely keep us updated if you do decide to buy one. :)

  6. Well, there would be a performance difference from the 2133 speed bump, albeit minor. There would only be a performance drop for 16gb vs 32gb if you were using more than 16gb of RAM with programs etc, which is highly unlikely. Generally speaking using all the RAM slots hinders overclocking, though I don't know to what extent that effects notebooks. There is no inherent performance difference between using two slots or four, unless the board is quad channel (which no notebook has yet to my knowledge, they are almost all dual channel, including the MSI).

  7. Welcome to T|I mate. :)

I have an X220 I use for university, it's a fantastic little laptop and though it lacks any real gaming ability I love it for the huge battery life, great screen and unbreakable feeling. I don't expect it to last me eight years though!!!*

I can say, of all the laptops I've seen other students with etc, this is the most likely to still be working in that timeframe.

Feel free to ask me anything more specific.

** 8 years???? Vehicles are pretty much the only thing I own that I keep for that long, well done! :77:
