eBay will be the cheapest place to look. As far as getting a 7970m to dance with your R3, you may need to flash an unlocked BIOS for your R3 then set your video configuration to use the PCIe-MXM graphics card (7970m) only.
so not a straight forward swap then mmm..

Hey guys
I was just curios to see if its worth while upgrading to 7970 instead of 675?
also from what i've read it sud be a straight plug in and play job after removing drivers.
Oh am also aware amd cards use different brackets.
Thanks
p.s is ebay the only good place to look?

What are the original clock speeds on battery (at load)?
on load it's 74mhz i think haha
used GPU-z to log the settings in battery mode
GPU-Z Sensor Log1.txt hope this helps

Hey i un-installed and reinstalled i now have access to the software XD thanks guys

Un- and reinstall. You'll find the latest version on the Dell support site.
i'll give that ago thanks svl7

Also if windows thinks its in a communication scenario it defaults to dropping to 50% volume when it detects a communication over mic and stuff. We can disable that and we can turn off mic when not in use. Might not be what your reffering to but another thing to note. All in sound options.
yea that's what i was referring to haha thinks mw86

Can I get a clean copy of the VBIOS?
can i do this and if so how?
haha
-
-
@mw86 : I'll take a look at it asap, may take a few days. Let me know if I forget it. Dunno how well it will work on battery though...
sup any joy on this sit?
-
glad you got it taken care of Sinn. Hope you enjoy your time at Tech Inferno.
yea lovin it XD thanks mw86
i also found out that the in built mics effect the sound when games run due to the windows damping sounds thing/setting if that makes any sense hope this helps anyone else having this problem XD

wow thanks for interest erm they run at 71mhz i think i will confirm later
XD
I can confirm that when in AC GPU runs @ 620mhz
As soon as it goes into battery it drops to 74mhz :'(
hope this helps?

okay so i pose question to advanced users here can the OP benefit from a modded vbios that has whatever power profile that is set when it starts on battery can that be edited and flashed to force a slightly higher speed but not as high as AC speeds as Adam Noble mentioned... Its a good idea Adam... Seems if its just a small increase the draw should stay low enough but wont get near stock 3d clocks. Id be interested in using such a vbios
So OP says .80v On battery .87v on AC what are clocks like on battery. If clocks can be raised on the .80v then thats best bet but if needed maybe that profile needs to be set to something like .83v
wow thanks for interest erm they run at 71mhz i think i will confirm later

The battery just can't provide a 100W GPU, 40W CPU, etc, with that much power... therefore the GPU and CPU downclocks itself. Of course it will run on battery, but not on full clocks.

Go to battery life and read.
thanks that clears that up XD

You can't battery doesn't provide enough power
hey is this true can u confirm with facts? it's just i find it hard to believe that they would put a card in a laptop that wont ru on its battery?
I've also been doing tests with GPU monitor in AC mode the card runs at 8700v and when dropped into the battery it drops to 8000v along with the mhz? is this the throttling of the optimus?
thanks for answering DanXbix

I have seen the same problem occur with my M18x when I plug in the USB for my phone. I ended up formatting which fixed the problem but you may try uninstalling and reinstalling the IDT driver as a first step.
Hey i reinstalled the idt sound driver which fixed the problem thanks guys

That shouldn't happen. Does the volume drop across the board or just in that program?
