You could always go down this easy path, And thermal Glue these on the heatpipes.

Cant you just go under power options > Advanced > Close lid action? If not, go into the NV controll panel and make sure your using the Windows Defaults as your master power options. Last possible route, Probably disable the NVCP In the services on boot up.

Very interesting and good results, I just ordered my M14x yesterday, im so excited... What do you guys think the highest 3D11 Score is around here? I've seen 3200 Before.
