    Hey @Swung Huang,

first: thanks alot for your effort!

second: is there any chance to get the second adapter with the cable connection? Because i would be able to put it in a case with my graphic card and it would be much easier to carry. I'm now stuck with the GDC-beast Adapter and i would love to get the full potential of my GTX 1080. Could you tell me, what will it cost or is it too time-consuming for you to build?

    Thank you!

No, these things are EOL for now and I don't personally invest and research in those things any longer. I will just make the current version until i have all my materials running out of stock. No more new things.

Would it be possible to connect a 3.5 HDD instead of the 2.5 and power it off the same PSU that will power the GPU?

It will definitely work. No problem.

@Swung Huang Hey man, whats the price of your final model including shipping? and are you still accepting orders?
Btw I just have newbie question what difference does this make instead of using EXP GDC with Mini PCI-E? is it data lanes?

The shipping cost varies so I can't tell you exactly the price. As far as I could tell is it's about $200.

Yes. What makes it different is the data lines: it has x8 instead of x1. And x8 is enough for most of the graphics cards.

    Hi!

I want to buy one Ultrabay-to-eGPU Adapter for my Lenovo Y510p laptop.  Anyone can help with this?
    Can pay via PayPal.

    Yes. Still available

Now the new integrated version is available. The SATA and Ultrabay that connects eGPU is now on a single board. Also, a chip is integrated on the board to handle SMBUS signals so that BIOS modification is not needed for the new board.

Plz note the new board is not compatible with the old 3D printed case.

Does this means the new version of adaptor allows ubuntu system to detect both 755m and egpu without any bios mod too?

    1. The BIOS mod seems have nothing to do with ubuntu graphics detection

    2. Yeah, it should. Whether you apply the BIOS mod or not. Though I'm not so familiar with GPU drivers on Linux.

Hi Swung Huang, I know you might be busy with your exams and glad that you are working so hard for our y510p community. I wanted to get this adapter and tried contacting you, please reply once you get time. I brought this laptop as used one, and now I feel i was cheated because I can't game. Please tell me when can I talk to you.

I think you maybe read an obsolete post? My exam has been completed since June. I'm now as free as a bird!

Should there be any significant differences between using this new one with an unmodded bios VS if we have the older one with a modded bios? Or is it just for the convenience of not needing to flash a modded bios?

Btw, I successfully received my adapter and am in the process of setting it up. Thanks again for carrying on where Gerald left off and making further advancements on these!

There are 2 major modification from the old one.

    a. It now integrate the SATA wiring onto the PCB.

b.It now uses the aforementioned hardware mod to make it Plug'n'play without a BIOS mod.

But if you get your previous version up and running, it should behave the same as the new one.

Also, the pics here is still a testing sample. I want to make the finished one just have a simple chip soldered on the board to do the trick instead of such loose jumping wires.

  7. Hi everyone.

I think I have successfully set up a paypal account.

    My paypal link is: paypal.me/swung0x48

Btw, I'd like to adjust my pricing.

    The board itself is $90

The case with random color is $27

and for another $8------That's $35 for a chosen color.

    Shipping to US is $40,

So if you are in US just pay me by paypal.

$157-----for BA with random color (BA for Board+case)

    $165-----for BA with chosen color

    $130-----for B (B for bare board, i.e. without case)

Once I received your payment, I will make your required items and ship as soon as possible. The shipping info will be filled in the paypal payment.

When I sent your parcel, you can track it here. https://intl.sf-express.com/query/toOrderQuery.do

If you are living in a country other than US, pay me $1(check paypal availability) and add a note to let me know your shipping info(address, zip/postal code, etc.) so that I can figure out how much I'll pay for your shipment and other fees related.

Also, the cabled version is still alive.

P.S. I know that SLI versions of laptop have got better power brick, but is it really matter with Ultrabay adapter and ePSU and eGPU?

It DOES NOT matter. You just need to power the laptop by the power brick. The eGPU is powered by an external PSU anyway.

Just tell me the color you need in email. I have 4 white ones and 1 teal one. If you want them,I will ship them sooner.

Every color other than white will cost $5 more.

Let me get this straight: you can use AMD cards with stock BIOS but you need an external monitor? and you can use the internal monitor with an nVidia eGPU but then you have to mod the BIOS?

BTW got prices for the 3D printed version? I rather have space for a 3.5 drive since those are faster, bigger and since I need a PSU for the graphics card I can power a 3.5 HDD too.

Could be a slot on the other side of the GPU instead of under it.

@Swung Huang, I am a linux user, mainly using ubuntu based system, can you help me to test under ubuntu 18.04 LTS, with nvidia driver 410 and CUDA 10 installed, can the eGPU still works?

It seems that my GT430 was died. I’ll try to fix it.

  12. 11 minutes ago, rusTORK said:

Yes, dGPU must be active. Signal go like this: eGPU => dGPU => Internal Display.

I tested when dGPU was disabled, but got lower results in benchmarks.

On Y500 it's impossible. But current situation allow to see picture and don't spent money on external monitor.

So you mean you just move a windowed game from the dummy display to the internal one? But that’s not a universal solution to every game?

  13. 33 minutes ago, rusTORK said:

I using @gerald adapter and don't using external monitor. Picture on internal display. Just insert HDMI monitor emulator in eGPU HDMI port and system will see "virtual" display. Then i can move any window on that monitor.

But how to let the internal display driven by the eGPU? As far as I know, in this case, the internal screen is still driven by internal GPU.

    Can we buy this version??

    Yep……

Actually the acrylic shop is no longer in service. So I built this to replace the acrylic one.

The price est. will be here a bit while later.

@Swung Huangalso will the adapter support both card vendors, nvidia and amd to play on laptop screen or will  i need external monitor? and finally modified bios will be needed?

For y400/500, external monitor is required.

for y410p/510p, if you use nvidia cards you can have your games rendered in the internal screen. For AMD cards I’d say that you’d better attach a external display.

    A modified BIOS is required.

I sent an email to the gmail address you posted before, BTW are you going to include the acrylic parts with the PCB versions? if shipping is too expensive I could do my own though I would need the CNC layout

Nope. The acylic case is 20 USD. I think the shipping would cost not much.
